Here's the DGIV BETA 8:

Download:
You must have received a PM with the link to the beta file, please do NOT publish this link.

Warning !
-it is a GOOD idea to install the pack after a fresh reboot of your computer otherwise some files may not be copied
properly due to XP or Orbiter holding them. For beta testing it's important to ensure to not have false bug report.
For this beta please delete your old Scenario/DeltaGliderIV folder before install.

Run:
Run scenario in "Tutorial learn DGIV - What's cool !" it will teach you DGIV and show you latest features.

Correction:
Scenario that start with "--" are new and text are not corrected yet, if you want to correct the english I would be
gratteful but send me a PM first to avoid useless work and correct directly the scenario, don't send me only the texts.
(I have enough work)

List of correction since BETA 7:

DGIV:

-NEW skin ATV
-Corected UWV map of DGIV (flaperon where wrong since DGII)
-Atmo autopilot descent/ascent rate increased
-New camera movement when accelerating or braking on ground.
-New voice for hover and hold speed autopilot
-Cleared bug "floating on mising gear" after gear failure
-Now forbid keyboard key that can disturb autopilot (retro, main, hover, RCS)
-Camera movment on ground increased for breaking
-Autopilot forbid Remote countdown and abort it. (appart usefull as normal antinormal, prograde etc etc)
-Check version of OrbiterSound and warn user if not 3.5
-Reworked al UMmu mesh, each type have a new face.
-Free falling of UMMu corrected Corrected. Assumed a speed of about 300km/h (90 m/s) max with minimal CX (vertical
pos) and about 180 km/h (50 m/s) with maximum CX (pos horizontal)
-Refuse to eject if temp to high (would destroy the ship instantly)
-Now fuel comsumption, o2 comsumption and engine setting saved in scenario, change made in Dg4config.exe must
be loaded in dg4 by panel to be effective, this allow DG4 to have differents setting in scenarios. (one for long trip, one
for short trip etc etc)
-Added a few scenario by Matthew Dimock  (see mission)
-Many other stuffs.

UMmu:
-Key "J" inhibit or enable Auto chute, usefull to play with free fall sport.
-New landing and crash sound
-Reworked few stuff with chute and death.
-new key "insert delete" for autopilot hover instead of numpad 2-8.

Still On my TODO List:
-News scenario, correction of typo and other things in scenarios.
-documentation (help in english welcome)
-New DGIV download page on this site

Much thanks for testing :)

Dan

i'm glad I stayed up this late (12:21am my time), getting right on downloading/testing. I'd have to say this is most likely
one of the last 3 or 4 betas. Keep up the great work Dan!

Things I spotted so far:

- The camera effect at takeoff disables the free-look camera. I am using the mouse with right-click to look around. Until you
take off, your view is locked ahead. It is obvious the camera effect code interferes with the free-look code.

- The Alt-2 (PRO400SPECnn) HOLD SPEED autopilot disables keys for flight control on the Num keyboard. I fly without a
joystick, so I need numerical keys to fly. If I disable the pilot, control is again restored. So, unless the philosophy has
changed and a joystick is now a requirement, this is probably a bug.

- AUTO HOVER autopilot (PRO200SPEC7), gets totally cleared if you press L to disengage AutoLevel stock autopilot - it's
strange, shouldn't happen like that..

(Also - is OrbiterSound 3.5 available yet?)

Perhaps a minor bug. But every time you add a DGIV to your scenario through the Scenario editor, the controls are set to RCS
Lin by default. it's not really a big bug, but it can get annoying. Perhaps setting it to ATM auto by default, or if that's
not possible because of a Orbiter limitation, RCS Rot would be better in my oppinion.

Also, some scenario's have the controls set to RSC Lin as well, even the ones where the DGIV is ready to launch on the runway. I havent has the time to check them all, but all the earth and mars scenario's have the controls set to RCS Lin and while i can accept that for docked to the ISS or Mir., it seems a bit odd to have the controls on RCS Lin when you are on the runway

No smart way to do this, would a parameter in dg4config.exe "disable ground camera effect" would do the job ?

There is no other logic key acceptable, all other key are taken by orbiter and it would not be nice for the majority
that have joystick to deal with "k - j set speed for example" middle of keyboard, not logic, not nice to remember.
Also would need to change at least 20 line of code in multiple place + all help in scenario. A hell of work. (the code is
in many place in the 32'000 line)

You can still fly with auto level you need to insist with your joystick, howewer it ensure you'll not loose control.
Workaround would take a lot of time, it's not planed to disable an autopilot.

Thanks & Best

Not minor, can save headeach for many peoples.

Editor spawn now with ATM AUTO and all scenario corrected to have either ATM AUTO
on ground or ROT in space.

Thanks

Done, new parameters "Disable ground camera effect (head up/down)" in dg4config.exe, default is enabled.

Personally, I don't mind, because I don't look around during takeoff, but the option to turn it off would be great.

I see. Perhaps if you were to change the keys  with which speed is set to .... Insert/Delete.. ? Similar to uMMU, you could
then maybe release the numerical keyboard back to default functions?

I guess I'm boring, but this autopilot in particular I find VERY useful - of course if it's too much work, no problem.

EDIT: Bah, never mind, I forgot Insert/Delete are Trim settings :( Shift-1 / Shift -3 maybe...?

Dan,

Minor language issue:

On the UMmu display where the AutoChute is displayed it says "hinibited". It should be inhibited.

I will edit your scenario files again for language corrections.

I really like the graphics test scenarios. What a great idea. I'm ashamed to admit on the worst case scenario I
get...ahem...7FPS. :siffle:

No bother though, I usually do not engage time acceleration unless I'm traveling between planets anyhow.

Thanks for a great ship and crew!!!!

Then all peoples with joystick would need two fingers, not very practical,
worse, other autopilot would have ALT HEADING or BANK on numpad and
SPEED on the other side of keyboard... another idiot problem: help text
size is very limited on the autopilot computer display, writting "ctl+1, ctl+3 for speed"
would not fit. (and no help text is a no-no)

not as simple as it seem uh ? ;)

Indeed I do.
Edit: No, I don't.. Not any more... Must have been a temporary glitch. Unreleased memory or something...

It's ok now.

Found a typo: At the solar panel deployment of the MTKS-SAT satellite, it says "MTKS-SAT Solat panel deploying"
Sorry if this is a repost!

You where probably too high... low pressure you must first "empty" the airlock (mean "empty until external level
reached)

I assume that 'inhibit' means disable or something similar.(unless you were saying inhibit meant enable)

Dan,

Not sure what's going on with my install, but I deleted the DeltaGliderIV scenario folder as instructed.  Getting the
following error on install:
Quote
There was a problem during install, make sure you have enough space on your hard
disk or that Orbiter isn't launched (even the launchpad)

I started my PC fresh and have not had Orbiter open yet.  I will reboot to see if the error message occurs again and
advise if I still have the issue.  If I do have problems, I will try with a fresh install of Orbiter.

That look like typically a problem of read-only or hiden file, right click on whole orbiter folder
properties and uncheck read only, hidden and ok.

Let me know if it work.

(Note: I must modify the extractor to delete locked file so this error can never happen, I tagged you in yellow,
(new very usefull feature of Forum ;) )

I tried this immediately (read-only was checked) but it did not resolve the issue.  I rebooted and tried again, still no
luck.  I will try on a fresh installation.

Thanks,

**EDIT** By the way, the problem seems to occur in the same place in the install each time, at around 99% complete, while installing files in the Config folder I believe.

Delete folder "Orbiter/doc/Ummu_SDK" and try again.

Other possibility: download was corrupted, clear your browser cache and try again
(archive should be about 20mb)
