Dan,

So you are aware, the fixes you and Asmi put in place did not help the lettering on the your panels though. The letters still change to lighter/ darker shades with the change in terrain as well:

I didn't realise that at first and thought it was only a "engine&co" gauge problem this is why I searched all sort of workaround.
Asmi finally told me that text problem yesterday and I've almost finished now a 100% sketchpad solution. (GDI is the problem here)

I'll post it in few minutes.

OS Win7 Familliale 64bits, tout droits sur le système, Orbiter se situe dans C:\Orbiter\2010

Bug après activation, dans "orbiter.exe". Si l'activation et le load se font complètement, alors est-ce une étape PostActivation (si il y en a une ?)

J'ai l'air d'être le seul à l'avoir. Satané système ! Et moi qui voulait avancer dans More Sounds ... zé rien fé, moué !

Et tu confirme que sur Orbiter_ng.exe tout marche normalement , t'as les sons et tout ?
Si oui je vais te faire une version avec des logs partout pour voir ce qui arrive. (Des lignes d'information qui retracent l'exécution des lignes ce qui va me permettre de voir ou ce situe le problème)

T'aurais une image du message de plantée si jamais ?
Comme tu à VC si tu savais comment tu pourrais retracer la plantée mais bon si tu sais pas, te l'expliquer prendrait un temps mahousse donc je vais faire des logs.

I confirm that the problem with the Arrow text being see through is gone on both Orbiter NG and Orbiter exe.

On Orbiter exe however, I am still seeing the problem I posted at 04-22-12 18:19.

Je n'ai aucun message de plantée, il m'affiche "orbiter.exe a cessé de fonctionner", qu'il recherche un problème, et se ferme. Aucune info, nada, et d*m**de-toi avec ça !
Merci d'avance pour tout les efforts, je ne sais comment te remercier ... Quoi que ... Si, c'est possible, faut creuser ...

Yes sir. Just to confirm again, it looks like the Arrow maintenance crew removed my MFDs for maintenance and forgot to reinstall them!

This is in Orbiter.exe not Orbiter_ng.exe.

there is a bug in Sketchpad implementation that leads to text being transparent in Dan's latest version when "D3D11Pad for back buffer only" or "GDI pad only" Sketchpad mode is set in D3D11Client's config. If you'll switch it to "D3D11Pad only" you should see it working as expected. I will try to fix this bug tonight and upload the update.

I am not at home currently, but will test these later. I appreciate the updates and will test the .dlls. With changes being made to both DX 11 and Arrow, this has become a bit of a moving target.

Yes- I have confirmed that the installation packages I have are the latest version, and that I patched to the latest .dll. This is what got us where we are where:

Orbiter_NG.exe- Sketchpad displays working for Arrow, and MFDs visible.
Orbiter.exe- Sketchpad displays working for Arrow, and MFDs NOT visible.


TEST RESULTS OF dlls.

First Change I made was to take Asmi's suggestion and changed DX11 to "D3D11Pad only". I consider this to be the baseline of the test:

Results:

Orbiter_NG.exe- Sketchpad displays working for Arrow, and MFDs visible.
Orbiter.exe- Sketchpad displays working for Arrow, and MFDs NOT visible.

No change noted from the original condition


Second Change I made was to trade out the UCGOArrow_hole4_sketchpadonly.zip to UCGOArrow_noguagebutnobug:

Orbiter_NG.exe- Sketchpad displays are not transparent, but do not show thrust in the bars when engines are engaged. MFDs are visible.

Short conclusion. I cannot understand why the Arrow's MFDs work in the graphics client and not in the normal executable. I see oddities in the logs with missing objects, but nothing showing the MFDs as a problem.

I may try a full reinstall tomorrow. I'm wondering what is missing, but something doesn't sit right with me here. I'd hate to see you guys run around in circles much more over this.

Yes- the DX11 package called for the latest Beta for installation, so I used the Beta. My fear, of course, is that the DX11 client would not work with the current Orbiter 2010 package. Of course, Asmi would need to comment further. Hence the fact I said this was a "moving target". I agree, if this works well on all other packages, we can make a note in the manuals and move along. I apologize for taking up many cycles of programming with the Beta, but at least you were able to resolve the transparency issue.

And for your skills, you get the :badsmile: , because I know that is your favorite!

I have an ultimate fix for all GDI-related issues, will upload an updated version tonight or tomorrow. Or maybe I will wait a bit as terrain and new athmosphere rendering engine is getting close, so we'll release all of that at once.

Osound now working for me !

But there is a problem: the "Crash debrits make an Orciter CTD 1 time, and if you re-try immediatly after, it works. I think is not too important now, patches are maked for this.

As a separate question, why did you decide to build the Graphics Engine to the Beta? Did Orbiter 2010 not support DX11, or is it just that you all are building in parallel with new Orbiter release?

There are no tenchical issues with using Orbiter 2010 P1. It's actually started as plugin for that version, but at some point we upgraded codebase to work with beta, and it stays that way. But with some minor modifications the plugin can be built against Orbiter 2010 P1 SDK and so made compatible with it. Unfortunately it's not possible to build a version that would be compatible with both versions at the same time...

I'm actually doing the backports of D3D11Client here: http://bitbucket.org/face/ovp/changesets . The O2010P1 bookmark tracks the backport branch and has "release" tags. The last one is 0.2 made from asmi's 599ae4 version of 2012-02-15 .

That said, I guess it is time for a 0.3 :) .
