BETA 1 OF DELTAGLIDERIV

Important!
The deltagliderIV is NOT finished
, it still miss 2-3 feature and also I'm aware of several small bug, mainly inconsistency, unfinished scenario, typo, missing doc and other small logical bug. This is the BETA 1 or if you preffer an Alpha.

I release it now because the DGIV is playable, I promised a beta for christmas and it have a lot of improvment over
the old DGIII. (see list below)

Please avoid writting ton of wish list, after three month I cannot anymore work on DGIV three more month as its a free work and I need to gain my life also,so please focus on beta problems. This said I didn't encounter CTD or serious problem.

Here's the file:
http://www.dansteph.com/publie/DeltaGliderIVBeta20061226.zip

You must have Orbiter 2006 P1 (with Patch 1)

There is no doc at this time, for those used to DGIII it should not be a problem, anyway I added several scenario

As the release was a bit rushed (I was sick christmas, so late, so I wanted to release... tuesday at least) I hope that
I didn't messed the packing, on my install I have zero CTD usually, I checked the zip on a fresh install it should run
fine but who know ? ;)

And thanks for kind word... notice DGIV will have two three more features when final release.

First thing to test was to crash it :)

Had a CTD on my heavyly modded Orbiter install - even with no particles - but on a nearly clean install it works fine!

So i now have to check out all these other new features ...

Thanks again, Dan!

Dan,

FYI - CTD shortly after manually reaching ApR of 6.735M, cutting main engines and switching to LIN RCS Mode in
the "Landed KSC departure to ISS" tutorial.

**Edit**

Removed log/cfg info.  Seems this was occurring any time I pressed the / key to switch between LIN & ROT mode in RCS, whether in the air or on the ground.  Did not occur when switching via panel.  Oddly enough, it was occurring in the DGIII as well.  Did not occur in any of the default craft.

After a fresh reinstall of Orbiter and both the DGIII and IV, the problem seems to be gone.  Not sure what exactly was the issue, as it was locking up so hard I couldn't even see the details of the Windows error report.

At any rate, seems the problem was with my system, not the DG.  Keep up the good work Dan!

Regards,
n122vu

I figured out that CTD only occurs with activated InterMod ( http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2156 ) and any "crashing effect" scenario without any logging to orbiter.log

The atmosphere is by "Orbiter Atmospheric Realism Enhancement" ( http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2379 ) an absolute must have imho.

As the crash effect spawn another "false DGIV" before deleting the real one the problem might be from intermod that
use handle that aren't valid anymore. (object was deleted) I'll see later if I can submit this to intermod's author.
(deleting object is an Orbiter feature that is not uncommon)

Very Nice!  ...Oh the Humanity!  :)
I can't believe all the exacting detail just in the Gear... the wheels spin, turn, work flawlessly.  Just don't Crunch em' 8)
I found Max settings (40 debris) and even with F9 displays and visible forces on, I still have zero FPS incursion.  How
about an option for MORE debris?  how about ventilating smoke coming from Each debris? (Visual Smoke setting
option in CFG... maybe lasting RND(3to15) seconds?).   I love the general *smoke swamp* that emanates around the
burning ship core.  What about a big Pop of (possibly) yellow/orange explosion smoke to obscure the mesh
conversion from a pretty DGIV to a vomiting ashtray of debris?
Sorry for all the questions... when I don't see an FPS hit, I always want to find my CPU limits.  :hot:

EXCELLENT Fun... autopilots work just as you might hope to expect, and delay ejections for each crew member
increases the chance for a few fatalities if you wait too long.  I love the visor messages when searching for survivors.
...Back to playing with all the other less gruesome new features.  :applause:  WOOOOOOOO!!

Great job again!:gift::applause::applause:

Are the bug reports accepted?
If yes, there's some:
1. When you EVA the pilot and get it back he is not recognised as a pilot.
2. Seat belt button is not working with full power failure -> no way to eject.
3. If you shut the power off by pressing APU button, the temperature in the ship will rise quickly.

Problem acknowledged. That thing was not updated for a while, and left in beta-state.
I didn't know that somebody still use it. :trucdeouf:
