Will you leave the exhaust boost textures in the next releases? Otherwise how can I change back
to usual particle exhaust???

Mainstricker:

You mean the yellow one ?
copy the exhaust.dds file of the texture directory on top
of the exhaust2.dds texture.
You'll have the blue back on boosted engine.

Lower panel optimisation done= 16 FPS gain on my machine.

Hmm, no i meant the textures in general.  (The turbo boost (the blue ones) works fine ;) but i
didnt meant that. ) I dont like the textures (the yellow and the blue one) not that much and i just
wanted to ask if there is a way to replace this textures with the particle exhaust (from the older
versions).

??? :wonder: Older version ?

The particle exhaust is the same than the stock deltaglider and previously
there was no particle system, so witch older version ?

(you can set the smoke with the DGIIIconfig program perhaps you have
changed the setting ?)

Or perhaps you want to get ride of the exhaust texture ?

:P no i didnt meant that ;) Ok the particle exhaust is the same but you added some exhaust
textures (the yellow and the blue one) I dont like these! How can i delete them? That's my
problem. The textures are looking to static for me. Thats why i dont want them anymore. And in
the previous releases of your DGIII there were no exhaust textures.

mhhh if you didn't had any exhaust texture that mean I forgeted
to add them in earlier release because there was no change at all
since the DGII.

You can rename the exhaust.dds to another name (WARNING NO ORBITER SHIP WILL HAVE
EXHAUST TEXTURE ANYMORE)
and the exhaust2.dds (this one is safe, only the DGIII use it)

Okay.. Finally got a couple of CTDs... seemed to be when I was switching between 'F9' Planetarium
modes, while getting really close to Joe Drank.  The last one happened Just as I hit (toggled) F9.  I
had all the options (ctrl-F9) on.

Mainstriker... do you mean the blue exhaust textures BEFORE they became 3D objects?  I agree
they looked better before (at a distance) while the new ones are 'spikey' and don't alpha-
fade/blend as well... but Now they are placed as they Should be in 3D space.  The texturing for
exhaust is completely different now since the lastest version of Orbiter, going from 2D 'flat' plane
textures to actual 3D exhaust objects.

Ahh... Align Planes!  :)

strange things,

They are not in my pack but I saw that they are in the Orbiter's
texture distribution. (I reinstalled a fresh Orbiter)

As I didn't made any change to that code and as everyone must
have those texture you should have made a change yourself
in the Orbiter install or setting or whatewer.

The CTD with F9 key is *probably* not the DGIII's fault

I find two people at least  that experienced the same without the DGIII:

Hey, sorry if this has already been addressed. I can't reproduce it always, but after I've been
flying awhile, typically using TransX and time accelerating off and on, sometimes when I hit F9 for
the planetarium view, the sim just quits. Using Win98SE (mostly because I don't want to lose my
CH gameport programmable functions for my old stick, pedals, and throttle!), Ti4200 at 1600 X
1200.

Just a note for the next Orbiter Sound. I noticed this with the EVA on the DG3. When in cockpit
view in the EVA you can hear the breathing but when outside you can't, but with Orbiter Sound on
all other vessels you can hear the cockpit ambient effects from inside as well as outside.
Wondering if this could be fixed?

Yes for sure ,

I'll will supress all the other sound from external view :)
Don't you think it add immersive experience, the silence of space ?

I personnaly find that switching from internal where you can hear your breath
and external where there is no sound add a new dimension, I'm always surprised
and a bit deceived when I focus on the DGIII after that and I hear the ambiance sound.

Anyway OrbiterSound will be completely reworked:
possibility to have the silence of space in external view (recommanded)
External sound of thrust if you are in atmosphere
unique sound per vessel (now all vessel share the same 60 sound slot)

Of course those that like to have external sound also in space
will have an option to allow that.

So for now the DGIII and MMu use a bad patch to fix some of the issue OS
have.

HI All

Wonderfull addon just wonderful...

I wanted to say thankyou dan.

I noticed yesterday that when flying the DG III and applying thrust I get a squickin (sorry dont
know if how to desribe it better) sound that gets louder the more turust I apply.

Is this normal for the DG III?

I would like to get rid of that but how?

Cheers Benjey

LOL he meant "squeaking" I think...like a mouse.

The outside "silence of space" is fantastic, Dan, don't change a thing on that...it's just like out of
2001!  Really awesome.  And this is coming from a guy who wants a radio on board ;)

I like well the sail simulator 4 (there is a demo www.stentec.com )
the reference was Virtual Sailor but I leaved this community long time ago
and I don't know how it evolved (serious or visual candy only ?)
www.hangsim.com/vs/

There is another with a demo that involve racing but I didn't like at all,
too much visual candy. no link I deleted him from my HD.

Just thought of some more visual candy...

Maybe when you crash into a planet/moon, the windshield could crack each time it bounces,
accompanied with some type of sound? It's too bad there isn't any collision detetction yet, as I
could see running into a space station could possibly crack the windshield, thus explosive
decompression ... hmmm...

Everything's working fantastic. Only one minor thing I've noticed so far. If I EVA the pilot and then
try to change views to the outside so I can see the ship and pilot I get the "Error" sound. Other
than that she's working beautifully. I love the EVA. Now I can really "Kick the tires and light the
fire." :) :)

Hey Dan,
i just tried to use you tipp concerning the exhaust texures (do you remeber? somewhere above in
this thread) You said that I should rename the files. I've done that and after that I started Orbiter,
but instead of the exhaust textures or nothing there were big white boxes. So that tipp didnt
work. :( But thanks anyway if you have another good idea post it ;)

Yes no input are allowed from keyboard when no one aboard
I was thinking to delete the sound here but some may have big trouble
and wonder why the :worry: the ship isn't responding anymore to
keyboard, the sound is to remind them to look at the message window.

Mhhh let's see if I remember..... mhhh :wonder: ....  it was yesterday right ? :)

Dang ! I was thinking that Orbiter would dismiss the exhaust.
Then the only solution is to create one DDS perfectly transparent
and to replace both exhaust texture with it.

Dan, there's a bug I've noticed that started with the 040218-rev1 version, when the MMU was implemented.
The switch for the inner airlock door operates regardless of whether you press 'open' or 'close'. In
other words -- the door can be closed, you press 'close', and it opens. And you can't click it again
until it finishes cycling open or closed. Also, a check of vessel state on the flight computer always
reports a "door not closed" even though all doors are closed. I suspect it thinks the inner airlock door
is open. By the way, thanks much for all your effort and time with the DGIII. It's the crown jewel of
Orbiter.
