Okay, I'm rusty (especially in French!), but I can get my point accross about 5 languages if need be :) and several
subdivisions of English and American English :)

PS: Shmi I think what you said to McBrain was, Thank you handsome McBrain... Right? hehehehe maybe she did it on
purpose :)

5 languages Doc, I bow in awe :wor:
However since I'm english and our usual idea of a fluent linguist is someone who SHOUTS very .....slowly.....
in ....simple .....English
I've always felt a bit smug that I've always made a point of learning enough for a few polite words of the country that
I'm visiting.
So I visited Greece:- Kali mera  Kali spera ,nikta Efkharisto, paracalo (dont know spelling and had to learn entire new
alphabet to read the road signs - my parents were most impressed (whisper dont tell anyone but I cheated on that I
knew half of them already he he we use them in maths and science.)

In my first year at Uni three Guys and I got a grant from college to subsidise a trip inside the Arctic circle:) :)
The boys on still counting the pennies they wouldn't even let me experience a smorgesbord :( and we had to make
lunch from the youth hostel breakfast. So burned into my soul is the word tilbud
I can't remember much more except je snikke ikke Norsk or something similar.

I was a bit stupid really, afterall we only got 2 travel grants really, we just shared them between 4. Why didn't I keep
my grant to myself and travel in style?:):)  Oh but the scenerary of Norway is stunning.

When my own personal planet is built it is going to have lots of fjords!! :) :)

Anyone know where I can get hold of an  audio-visual course How to speak Slovenian in 5 easy lessons? :)

I actually radically improved my typing by my video-game playing. Seriously
:bug:
Flight sims typically have a hundred different functions, with keys and key combinations for each, and that helped as I
had to know which keys were where. Of course what really did it was playing multiplayer games like Quake/HalfLife
teamfortress. Not only were there a lot of different keys (Mega TF had three different kinds of grenades per
character alone) but there was the added element of "tactical" chatting. Not only are you trying to communicate with
people in real time so that the info you give them isn't old news (*Boom!* Aiiiiee!............ "Hey, look out for that, uhhh,
landmine!"), you need to do it quick enough that you yourself don't get blown away while you're standing there
typing.
Ah, memories :)

Hehe, why? We don't have fjords :)

Well if you're born in a small country like mine you are surrounded by foreign lingos.. Romanic, Germanic and Slavic
groups, so if you speak one of each group, you can understand the rest as well :)

Have you guys played the Space Quests?? Now that was role playing, hehhe

Which are the best free/cheap online games to play? Are there ones you can dip in and out of if you haven't a lot of
time to spare? I don't want a shoot em up, but one where the players have to cooperate and make friends :friend:

Hehe, Orbiter Multiplayer?

OK, when I can take the "L-plates" off my FAB 1 I'll have to try Orbiter Multiplayer!

Hi folks,

I was wondering how many years it will take for someone to ask about RPG!

I must confess I'm unable to count the infinite nights I spent around a table with beers, dice and friends.

But  do you know about LARP? Look at this :
http://www.fedegn.org/
I'm one of the (few) "players" they are talking about in the begining of the "who are we" section.

Ahhh, old good time....

Merci beaucoup Spacingbluefrog! FédéGN looks very interesting!
Do you know if there is anything similar in England, I suppose there must be.

Do you think it is a generation thing that we can see the fun of sitting around the table with beers (or wine):drink:,
dice and friends rather than playing a computer based RPG via LAN or internet?

Paper-based RPG's never interested me. It could be a generational thing, but I feel it's more determined by my
personality. I'm just too lazy to keep track stats and all that. better to let the computer do that for me. :)

The "Group Community" of D&D or CyberPunk or even Traveller (excellent Space RPG) is something that can't really be
duplicated, if you're in a tight group, by some crappy computer.  ;)

2-day long super adventures, where your GameMaster (or DM) has spent weeks of prep time & knows the creative
job well, can be an amazing experience that you take to the grave with you.  I've taken several to the grave already,
I Tellz Ya!
Hearing the Dice, but not seeing them... talking directly to your GM about your plan/decision with each deadly
encounter, having limited reaction time, can make for some intense Group Trust.

Good times.  Goooood times.  Best Game Requirement:  Females in the group (seriousness a +).
