Does anybody know how many newtons are produced by the retro engines at full power in the different engine configuration in
the DGIV?

Thanks,

The dry powers of the engine configurations are written in the pop-up menu in the DGIV configuration panel/window where you
select the engine type and so they should go as follows:

Mark I - 50'000 N
Mark II - 200'000 N
Mark IV - 260'000 N
Mark V - 320'000 N

I hope this is what you were talking about. ;)

But do you know what the dry power of the retro engines are?  Is it some percentage of the main engine?

F=ma,

go to .1x time, burst fire (only enough time to see the value) the retros and look for value at m/s2 (acceleration). Find the
mass and sub in the numbers to work it out.

Does that mean that, using the Mark I engines, the retro thrusters produce 4kN more thrust than the main engines?

[Performs quick test.]

Yup... but the retros are still quieter, and the engine bar graph still only goes up 25% of the scale when the retros are fired. :badsmile:

Isn't there a feature of Orbiter to show all forces acting on a vessel as arrows? F9 or something, can't remember.
