Ok, I know that this may be a strange (even a little stupid) request, but what program do you people use to open
the .3ds file? Ye, I did google .3ds, but it came up with a program made by Autodesk (3ds Max or something...). So
then I thought, well, maybe I should try to open the file in Maya 7. Alas, it was to no avail. In short: is there a free
program that will open the .3ds file? And secondly, have you, Dave, considered releasing a stand-alone program
for designing the Payloads, or adding a few sentences to the readme stating about the above mentioned program.

I beleive it's Dan.

Anim8or is I beleive the most popular app for opening .3ds.

Edit: Replace the smilie with the number 8.  That combination of letters makes a smilie...

Is there any way the payload's name can be defined prior to seperation, rather than just using the default "CRG-XX".
I was trying to load a Spacecraft3.dll controlled payload, but I cannot do this without being able to set the name.

3ds is a popular format that can be converted to<->from many application even free.
Modelizing is not a so easy job, I assume that peoples that know it enough know also
the 3ds format.

Fine, I'm modifying DLL and SDK doc so you can "force" a release name for object,
the problem is that I don't know spacecraft3 at all and I have exactly 5 day left to finish
the DGIV.

Can you help and make test with the new DLL and parameters ?
I'll need fast feedback on this, let me know.

Dan: All you need to make the DGIV payload system S3 compatible is to allow user to specify payload name before
creating and attaching the payload to DGIV.

S3.dll uses the vessel name to load a specific .ini config file. Example:

vessel name is Neemo. Then S3.dll will look for Neemo.ini in Config\Spacecraft.

I hope this is clear enough!

Thanks for info David,

Then I already added a parameter "DGIVFORCEVESSELNAME="
I believe it's in DLL of 21 may... can you try it GW_Simulation ?

See: http://orbiter.dansteph.com/forum/index.php?topic=12045.msg186226#msg186226

(PS: just checked, yes it's in latest dll on the link above)

Dan
