I just uploaded a new dgIII version that correct a "minor" bug (anim part going wrong in some circumstance)
see: http://orbiter.dansteph.com/index.php?disp=dgIII

DGIII and OrbiterSound 3.0 news

I just received the latest beta version of Orbiter wich is now "playable" for
me and my add-ons. The good things is that the CTD bug that some had
in the DGIII alpha is now gone, it was a memory leak in Orbiter himself.

The bad news is that now I'm develloping my add-ons under the new beta version
this mean that I cannot do any new release before martin release the new
Orbiter version. With any chances it would not be that far.

Dan

Nobody know (don't ask Martin this is a question that upset him)

And yes it's the version with the *AMAZING* shadow.

Dan, Just a question

With the new release of the DGIII, would it be possible to implement a function so that the battery can possibly
power the ship for a short amount of time?

In this case you must use the emergency power battery under the red covered button.

Dan, will it be possible with OrbiterSound 3.0 to just kill the RCS sound for one vessel and not the others? I need to
know this since I'm working on an project that will need it.

David,

I have designed OrbiterSound with that in mind.

OrbiterSound vessel sound will be (are already in my version)
totally separated, each setting or sound loading you make apply
only on one vessel without affecting in any manner the settings or
the sounds of others vessel.

There is even a special instruction to load your custom RCS or THRUST
sound that will ONLY affect ONE vessel.

How about that sequential sound problem I've been having? When you accelerate and go back to normal time, the
same clip gets repeated everytime you accelerate and back. As if time acceleration deactivates the sequencer..... like
it does PRO104 autopilots in DG3.

Sorry to bug you, but I don't remember getting and answer about it :)

Tnx,

Hi Dan,

when you'll fly two ships at the same time in external view, will you hear two separated engine sounds?

I love the little red button, but It kinda bugs me a bit since the emergency power cell is a one time shot, and cannot
be reset or shut down. I was wondering since a battery can be used to sart a bus, why not power a bus for a 'very'
short duration, like a APU overheat, or a temprary overload of another power bus?

Anyhow, I am off to log some more flight hours...

I thought about this already a long time and made some test
but you can't have both "accurate" doppler, volume and
several ships sound in external view, the performance
hit would render OrbiterSound "highest hardware" only.

Don't forget that each vessel is allowed to have 60 UNIQUE sound
while Orbitersound load also 30 and one radio frequency can load
up to 60 sound....

So say three ship in external view mean 3 time calculus for doppler
and volume, and three wind, three thrust and three RCS playing....
(at least, in fact it's a bit more complicated for example the wind is
composed with three sound)

Most current computer would see a big performance hit and I'm affraid
the sound will also start to suffer from this.

So you can choose between either doppler effect and only one ship sound set or several ship sound set and no doppler effect, right?

No choice, doppler effect, volume, sonic bang and it's already
an headeach to code.

Orbiter isn't at all a flying formation simulator so I preffer
focusing on what will be 96% of flights.
