See article at http://internetducttape.com/2007/12/06/why-open-source-software-sucks/

Since we do things for free, I thought that an opinion from those who are in Open Source projects could have a
chance to have an opinion, as well as users here...

I disagree with the author.
Let's see examples of good free software
-Anim8tor
-Blender
-Orbiter and all those many addons
-Modplug Tracker
-Urquan Masters
-Celestia
-Orbitron

Some good software is open source.
Voice your opinion.

Nope, but I think NASSP is, if I am not mistaken, or Orbiter Visual Project...
Correct me if I am mistaken.

OVP is only open source on the client side.

NASSP is open-source, but is not known for its user-friendliness. ;)

The author of that article wasn't really bashing all OS software, just his own that he created. The problem he talks about is
related to usability more than functionality. I agree this can be an issue with lots of OS software. Blender is a great app,
however the most common complaint about it is the very steep learning curve cause by its user interface. It's a fine UI once
you get used to it, but hard to learn and very different from the "norm".

Even Firefox has this a little - how many people know to enter "About:Firefox" into the address bar to set many of the options?

Adding to the confusion is the lack of thorough documentation for many projects.

There has been a lot of arguments concerning the open source Netbeans and Eclipse programs. While eclipse is an exceptionally
good java editor, I have to recommend Netbeans to any upcoming java programmer.
