I have noticed that the number of threads with [OffTopic] tags has been rising steadily.  How come we havent got an
off-topic thread? Sign the petition here if you want an off-topic board on the forum.

An off-topic forum won't work. This has already been discussed.

By Dan, who said it wouldn't work. But we could MAKE it work. ;)

In any case, I'm really impartial and don't care all that much. It'd be nice, but a hassle. Now excuse me while I
gomake some ramen and play my new Metal gear solid game. (fwahaha)

Not enough people use the off-topic threads for it to be worth openning a whole new forum.

Well Shmi, Krytom and I like the idea, DON'T WE?!?

Anyway, Krytom's coming back today!

I'd better find the paint we originally used for his room and take away the fluff...:)

I prefer just having the odd offtopic thread to provide light relief in the main forum.  (And I don't think Char speaks for
Krytom either!)

No, Char does not speak for Krytom!

NO! For I can now speak for myself! :badfinger:

Hehe. I'm back (again again again) at my beloved computer. It seems that not much has been really going on around
here. By not much I mean not that many threads posted, though it seems that some good looking add-ons are being
developed. While on the topic of developing, I've got my Austria tour photos and am hoping to scan them in soon(ish).

Nice to see that not everyone is bored (like Atom).

I would only promote an off-topic forum only if we could keep those nifty looking [off-topic] tags at the beginning of
the threads anyway...

:) Well, I agree the [off topic] frequency has increased, still if it warrants a new forum is up to Dan. If so, I again offer
my vote for Freespace as its moderator :)

I guess we are spending too much time in the offtopicness, but at least it keeps the forum alive until new Orbiter
problems accumulate for discussion :)

But if we have an off-topic forum then the tradition of GUPT might end! 8o

That can't happen, it was in the original GUPT that I announced my independence. We must continue GUPT even if we have  it in
an off-topic forum. You can tell, I like GUPT.

Not many people use the off-topic threads anyway. It's just me, Krytom, Freespace, McBrain and occasionally Doc.

We can have a gupt in the off topic forum, and that would be the king of useless threads. But others might be
like. "hey, check out this cool freespace2 mission I made"

that would be off topic, but not totally useless, as the original gupt was. :)

This off-topic thread is going off-topic.

Anyway if we open an off-topic forum and start off topic threads. Then those posts would be on topic and would not belong in
an off topic forum. Hehe.

Therefore I guess we'd need to post on topic posts in the off topic forum in order to make it off topic? Then what
Should be the correct name for a forum specifically designed for off-topicness?

I prefer the sound of an "all-topic" forum better. :)

hmm. But then it would be disastrous if somebody put an on topic thread in it, considering that it would be like putting
a piece of important news in the mud, uncared for. :(

because "all-topic" and "any-topic" implies both on and off topic threads, neither really should be used, thinking about
it.

Perhaps "no-topic" forum would be better, as any truely useless post wouldn't have a topic. :)

hehe semantics.. tell you what. Why doesn't one of you just whoop together another forum someplace and we can
thread on and off topic as must as we feel like, plus noone nags Dan about it.

I would do it myself, but I don't like forum administration :)
