I'm running a clean installation of Orbiter 2006 P1 with Orbiter Sound 3.5 and DGIV.  Whenever I press the Alarm Reset
button, or the Test button by the error indicators, I get a deafening wail from the program that will not stop until I close
Orbiter.  All other sounds work fine, and I'm not inclined to stop using DGIV, but this causes me problems when (not if) I
screw up, because then I'm either stuck with the alarm beeps from the Glider, or a really loud and annoying sound.  Evenif I
close Orbiter and start from the same spot in the scenario, DGIV starts up with the alarms again, so I have to either get
used to them or go crazy from the other noise.

I know this isn't the way it should be, because I've used DGIII with Orbiter 2005 before and never had the problems.  I've
tried deleting all of my Orbiter files and reinstalling from scratch, with no luck.  I've gone through (I think) every sound
in the orbiter/sound/ directory, and none of them match the blaring sound, so I can't just delete it.  If it matters, I'm
running Windows XP SP2 with an Nvidia GeForce 6800 and a SoundBlaster Live! 24bit.

Do you know what's going on and how I might fix it? Thank you.

I have the same sound problem that you do.

You don't have to shut down the simulator though. All I do is go to the "Window Filter" rotary switch and click it any
direction once. This switch doesn't seem to do anything that is why I use it. Switch it back to original setting if you
like. Anyway it will stop the screech and you can continue.

Thank you, that certainly works.  The only problem is that it just feels kludgy.  I'd really prefer to find the root cause of
the problem and a solution so that it doesn't keep happening in the future.  But in the meantime, I'm glad you've shown me
that, so I don't have to deal with alarms forever and ever.
