I've installed new Orbiter 2005 plus your fantastic DG iii for 2005 but for some reason I can't read the custom mini
HUD thing on the right. There are some funny dots and lines where it should be but no text.

I have a ATI X800 Pro using the new Cat 5.1 drivers. I've tried using older ones but still no go. I've tried with and
without anti aliasing, still no go.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a solution? It's no biggy at the moment I just turn it off.

Also is there some sort of reading in your helmet when you EVA since the coloured marks show up here too?

Clip art?!? WTF?!!

He obviously has a graphics problem. It sounds similar to a glitch that happens if you minimize Orbiter and then
maximize it again. Some of the cockpit graphics go 'dotty' and 'liny'.

Dan,

I run the game in 32 bit mode at 1280x1024 which is my LCD monitors native resolution.

This gave me an idea to try some tests.

1. Try different resolutions at 32 bit. No go at all the resolutions I try.

2. Try 16 bit. Works "sort of" at all the resolutions I try. I say "sort of" because I can read the text now but the area
of the 2D panels that are obviously treated as an alpha channel and which I can see through in 32 bit mode are now
all white and opaque.

So I'm back to what I started with. Not missing that much really. The DGIII and Orbiter sound are still the best
addons out there and this doesn't stop me enjoying flying. Its nice to have you actually look into this problem, the
others obviously have way too much time on their hands.

Thanks again.

I'm affraid it seem to be a problem with your machine (3dcard, driver or such)
because your the only one to report that, it's also a strange coincidence that
this happen on a "LCD" system.

Try perhaps the 1152x864 res (16 and 32) as it's the DGIII native res... if something in your system
decide to strech the image (LCD?) it can cause alpha blending problem.

The font are set to render in any case without antialiasing (AA can cause the problem also)
but those sort of parameter are tied to what the driver will decide to do..
normally they must obey...

btw: how work the customhud program in the sound/deltagliderIII folder ? same prob ?

Hope it help ?

Dan

I just read your post and fired up the new dgIII for the new orbiter build.
I have an Athlon xp3200, 1024mB, GeForce6800U, Drivers 61.77, 256mB, Sony 19" LCD.
I am running at 2048x1024, 32bpp.
Mini-HUD shows flawlessly. This combo works very nice, avg frames = 100 +/-
Might be some ATI driver glitch. Maybe try different, older drivers.

Make sure that panel scale=1.00 (Orbiter Launchpad/Parameters).

Yeah, putting the picture of the Canadian Prime Minister up was a little unkind ...

Someone else over on M6 also reported the white opaquing problem with the panels.  I don't experience it, but I've had
similar problems with other programs.  Updated drivers usually cured the problem (sometimes going backwards in the
compatibility chain is necessary too, not all new drivers are better).

Thanks David,

That was the problem. I was running at 1280x1024 instead of the DGII native 1152x864 and I bumped up the panel
scale so it was full width of the screen. Dohhh! Something so simple.

Looks like I'll have to run at 1152X864 then.
