If your computer isn't powerful enough to use FRAPS, CamStudio is the freeware to try.  At least it worked fairly well for me
on a 1.6 ghz laptop.

Has anyone tried Harley's VCMFD yet?  I'm thinking when I have a break from grading papers, I'll give it a whirl.  I like the
idea of keeping Orbiter's internal frame rate constant.  Seems to me it's the solution to the inevitable jerkiness of video
screen capture on a slower machine.

Let us all know how it goes Dig Gil.

Yes, FRAPS is payware, but it is not too much money.
It is the work of a developer, and therefore it deserves a payment.
Do you think work should be paid?  This is the perfect time to do so.

It should just save.  For me, depending on how large the file was, it could take several minutes to actually do after telling
it to save.  In other words, lots of lag time in saving.

Fraps allows you to do 30 second capture for each clip...You will most likely edit the mini clips, so the time restriction
isn't a big deal for most things. You can even take out the watermark by cropping the video off the top a little bit.

Only the FRAPS demo do 30 sec.'s clip (I think), anyway, I found CamStudio by reading the
http://jeanpaj.free.fr/Tutos/HowToMakeOrbiterVideos.pdf .

And I found too a cool software with the CamStudio already integrated:  Quick MediaConverter (French and English).

CamStudio is good recording video (if your computer is powerful enough) but don't recordes the sound good aswell,
could it be because of my sound card working with the sound input as the sound output? and the sound output don't
work at all?

I ever dreamt with a user friendly freeware video editor. But I never found anyone.

I agree with that, but if I had some cash I would vote on that.

I would try to search for SourceForge projects...
I know Audacity for audio... but I have never made a movie.
