By request (Hi gene) I just finished to code a turning nosewheel
linked with yoke for the DGII and I just discovered that the stock
DG and so the DGII is unable anymore to turn on ground.

I even tried to apply differential braking with RCS help, nothing...
it doesn't turn (well a litle bit but nothing that we can call "taxiing")

It's me only ? or is anyone able to taxi any vessel in Orbiter ?

Best way I've found to taxi the DG is to hover a couple feet off the ground and set my horizon
level. Then I can taxi it anywhere I want. It actually works better now that Orbiter has better
handling characteristics in atmosphere.

thanks matt,

I'll remove the turning nosewheel then,
else it will look like a dgII bug: the wheel turn
but the vessel continue straight.

Too bad, it looked really good.

Aw man....  Wheel turning dynamics not calculated in the main instruction loop yet, eh?
I guess I'll have to keep getting my runway taxi fix from X-plane for a while.
Thanks for the work though, Dan... That 'bug' could still pass as a hopeful Feature. :)

Yes Dan the Shuttle Training Aircraft now can taxi.

http://library.avsim.net/search.php?
SearchTerm=Shuttle+Training+Aircraft+&CatID=obt_spshps&Go=Search

You need the whole line above. I can't get this forum box to take it all.

This is an excellent aircraft to have. It turns Orbiter into a true FS and not just a space sim
anymore.

mhhh VERY intteresting info Gene,
I will dig into the SDK to see if I missed something...

So you can make sharp turn using the joystick or you
need to brake ? (I can't test, for one week I limit my download
because I have a temporary expensive RTC connexion at
home before passing to..........

Don't remove the turning nosewheel.  It works just fine on the STA! (Very cool plane; made several
cross-country trips with it)

Working on this problem.... not simple.

The simpler would be to reverse to the older
math flying calculation (they are still there in the SDK)
as the turning plane seem to work with them.

but this bug me I have already make all the change
to work with the new atmospheriq model.

I'll try my best.

Dan,

A few hints that may help. I hope.

With the STA the nosewheel steering is active below 50 m/s airspeed.

Also you may be able to cheat by looking at the Patch 1 for version 3.0 of Shuttle Training Aircraft.
This patch is only an update to the V3.0 STA, so it may save you the trouble of looking at a lot of
code. Seeing that this patch added the nosewheel steering to the version 3.0 that didn't have this
feature to begin with.

Anyway just a thought.

The sta nosewheel steering works fairly well. I was able to taxi around habana with it as long as I
controled my speed.
