Flags eh? :) Well this one is not official, but I was sorta playing with Photoshop and came up with this, which is
actually a logo for my new (not yet existing) site :)

Ladies and gents, making the giant leaps for human kind from Earth to Moon to Mars, I give you the Global Space
Initiative, based on Olympus StarPort, Mars! Eat your hearts out :)

Cheers,

Oh, and beware my new sigi!

Love your flag Doc :)

*But how does it flutter in the breeze when space is a vacuum? :wonder:

Have you seen the stupid proposition that the Apollo landings were faked using that * as one of the arguments?

By the way have you seen Mustard's brilliant series of Apollo photos on the french forum?

:)  Well, we have a nice atmosphere now on Mars, light, but enough to crete some wind :)

Actually, the flag didn't flutter on the moon. realizing that no wind tends to make rather ugly looking flags, they took a
bar and hung the flag horizontally on it. very simply. it's kinda wavey because they didn't lay it straight out.making it
kinda wrinkled. Even I, the big conspiracy theorist, will dismiss that rumor. Besides. once we go to the moon for good
and space tourists are a reality, everybody will shut up about the whole deal and pretend they never belived the
rumors.

The flags waved on the moon because the astronauts were waving them about (and there was a bar along the top)
as it shows in one of the links from the moontruth site.  I knew this. I was only joking about Doc's flag, which I think
is very impressive.

Although, I'm not sure about " Bringing the Universe to Terrans"  if there is life out there they have a right to
be
left alone ;)

Thanks for pointing that out. It goes without saying that indiginous life if ever found is left to it's own means. I agree
with the concept of "Prime Directive" very much in this respect. Although in reality, the human race is still far too
immature about that even after the historical lessons we've had. Sometimes I actually think that until we are ready,
the universe will seem as dull as it does now, but if we ever achieve the mental level suited for colonization and
become wise as a race, the universe "may change" and we would perceive it in a whole different way. Like if you
never saw a plane up close, you wouldn't think much of the streeks left behind in the sky by planes passing
overhead. But the moment someone explained to you what those were, you'd realize the sky is full of them? And feel
a lot less lonely eh? :)

Figuratively speaking, who is to say, that there ARE NO hyperspace bypass lanes around Earth, but we can't actually
see them yet? :)

What my motto means (and I will have to alter it, it's kind of clumsy right now) is more technologically speaking.
Exploring the concepts (through Orbiter) to make the Universe accessible to humans. I guess that would be a more
accurate way of putting it. Like using the DG, like using procedures like Direct Ascent, putting brains to use, so you
create nice automation, so you don't need a PhD to get to space. That sort of thing :)

Cheers,

indeed, now all I need is some aluminum for my ship's hull (my empty soda cans!) asbsestos for thermal shielding,
(my house is old, it should have lots of it! :) ) and about 7 tons of LOX! (I'm sure I can get my hands on that much
somehow... :) ) look out armstrong, here I go!

HEhe, was gonna ask you. How did you pull of that Jupiter stunt, with all that temperature? I mean, assuming you
had chicken mode on, the DG still goes out of control when you exceed a few thousand degrees. Did you just go with
that and let it tumble down to Jupiter or did you find a way to make DG involnurable?

Cheers,

Actually. I never claimed I was ever in control during my descents. You can tell I wasn't in that chicken mode because
it clearly shows that "you burned up" message at the bottom of the screen. I planned my trajectory and was running
at those speeds even before I entered the atmosphere. my total velocity was so great that no matter how the
fricking thing turned around, it just simply couldn't change my course and bounce me out of the atmosphere. I also
confess that those pictures are taken very early in the upper atmosphere, if I had waited any longer, then all the
pressure would have practically made me stop on a dime and the speed results wouldn't have been very impressive..

Actually a PhD isn't that much use if it is in the wrong subject. ;)

That's why I like there to be as much automation as possible for those that need it. (like me)

Be careful Freespace as you dismantle your parents house. :) Asbestos is quite safe in situ, but if you break it up, and
release fibres in the air,  it is deadly!

Guess what I've just found out, with the help of McBrain, Atom and my sister........I know who shmi is....

She's my mother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!8o8o8o8o8o8o8o8o
I swear I didn't know until about half an hour ago.:fool:
This is the real story of how I found out:

I was engaged in battle with Shmi when all of a sudden she sliced my hand off.
She asked me to join her in her campaign to take over the galaxy. I said "never!.....you killed my mother.........."
And she said...........
