*Doc irritably turns to the screen* What of it? Your orders are. Make no move, do not provoke an attack. Officially we
are still neutral. The cruiser was captured because it violated our territory. I am pretty sure, Venus doesn't see it that
way, hence the strike force. Launch the cruiser as soon as it is ready. Send the Dauntless and the Phoenix to escort
it and be prepared to execute the plan!

"Yes, sir. The new stolen wizzard technology has been installed and should work flawlessly. Just as it did with the
invisible asteroid. But I don't understand why you will send two escort ships WITHOUT the system installed. What is
the point."

*Doc approaches the screen* You have your orders, General. And I have my plan. You do things according to plan,
Venus is in for a suprise. What's the ETA?

"Just over an hours sir. The planets are in correct position, otherwise it would be almost a week."

Good, notify me, when they are within Vanusian SOI. Then we execute the plan. As you well know, the point is not to destroy Venus, but to end this conflict before it REALLY gets out of hand. Those cowboys in the outter regions are a much bigger problem than Venus. Are they not actually trying to assist Earth? No, we just need to stop Freespace from making a mistake by attacking Mars.

"Good! Do not attack Mars unless provoked. Our objective there is to be able to identify and intercept any threats
from the outer solar system, *before* they reach earth or venus. Still, keep an eye out for that cruiser they captured.
Do not trust it even if they appear to be all right. it's been compromised. Mars claimed it was invading their territory,
but it was a diplomatic mission, known well in advance to the whole solar community. And the comms info we got back
confirms that they identified themselves. We have no interest in mars. earth takes priority. We must not stretch
ourselves thin."

"Affirmative. your majesty. Also, what are we to do with the people on Luna?"

"If they wish to return to earth once we have aquired it, then let them."

"but majesty. That's not what I meant. The lunar colonies are claiming their independance now that earth has fallen
to the wayside, what do we do?"

"eh, let them do what they want. we'll focus on them when we're done. they're still weak from living in dome cities.
they can't even walk freely on the surface. that's what happens when you choose to live on a celestial body with no
atmosphere to teraform."

"SIR, Venus sphere of influence reached. Do we proceed with the plan"

"Yes, General, forthwith!"

The escort ship Dauntless and Phoenix open brutal fire on the semi-crippled cruiser. It accelerates in an effort to put
enough distance between them. The cruiser starts sending out a distress signal to Venus.
"This is Cruiser AresII. We've managed to escape the Marian forces, but they are still in pursuit. Our shields are 3%
and dropping rapidly. Request you open the planetary shield immediatelly!"

"AresII, negative, risk of Martian contamination is too high. Can you hold out?"

"That is an overwhelming negative. Shields down to 2%. Help us, Venus!"

After a short while, the Venus shields drop. The Dauntless and Phoenix realising the cruiser is about to escape, fire a
final salvo and then change course moving away from Venus to a standard orbit.

The cruiser is hit.. and after a series of explosions dissapears off the screens and out of sight. A few escape shuttle
are reigstered flying off in different directions. Venus HQ determines that the whole crew managed to escape the
destruction. But they remain angry because of the unprovoked attack.

Meanwhile, the Dauntless and Phoenix assume orbits and slowly circles the planet. They are looking and waiting..

"This is Venus AirSpace Control. What is the meaning of this!?"

"We regret to inform you, but your planet has just been infiltrated by Dan's cover operatives. We are trying to
determine their location!"

"Bull. Dan the Belt Commander???"

"Trust me, Commander. We almost have the signal. We will destroy their field camp as soon as we pinpoint it!"

"What are you talking about. The shield is up again. You can't shoot through it!"

"We'll see. Got it! It's in the southern regions of the planet. The minning complexes, they are about to seize the
operation. Prepare to fire!"

"Wait! How.. what.."

The Phoenixes cannons start spit fire which hits the planetary shield with roaring ferocity. Most of the blast is
disspated by the shield, but a smaller beam passes through and decimates the targeted area.

"There you go, Commander. All clear. We are heading back to Earth. Sorry for this.. incident. Our President is eagerly
awaiting communication from your leader. There is much to be explained and as you have seen, much new
information to take into consideration.."

The two mighty vessels engange engines and are gone in a few seconds..The commander on Venus is dumbfounded
and stares at the screen.. He pushes a button to contact his leader......

......

Meanhile a shadow slowly descends on the Surface of venus and decloaks..

Freespace is seething with anger. "DAMMIT!"

The communications to the area stopped a while ago, and reports are yet to come in. It's quite nerve racking at the
moment. finally, the intercom flares, "Majesty, we have a problem!"

"Duh. I could tell that from the thunderous roar in the distance. what the hell happened?"

"As far as we can determine, a blow was inflicted to our mining operation. A smaller beam from a warship penetrated
a hole in the global shielding system, and fried anything that was on the surface. Fortunately, there was little damage
or casualities, as everyone was underground mining."

"I smell a trap. Get my elite royal guard ready. I wish to have them spearhead the investigation and resolution of this
incident. We must not fall to confusion! send out our rejuvination and invasion force to earth with a full complement of
the new U wing fighters and warship complement at once! "

"yes, sire."

"Now, increase security at all critical posts to maximum. 120% for here. and make sure that the shielding over the
palace is 100% complete before any work is done elsewhere on it. increase aggressiveness with the martians, but
don't start fighting with them yet. also, we're outta cheetoes here, so hurry up and get someone down here, already."

"Yes, sire."

The sirens finally stop

Freespace is not a fool. If he was in direct charge of the shield, he would have never let the shield down. cloaked
ships have a tendency to slip past shields when they're not active. also, it's likely that this is merely an attempt to
keep freespace from aquiring the title of "king of Venus and the rest of the solar system.....and sarcasm" He never
was able to patent an alternative version of a cloaking device, even the one time he got really close, there was that
espionage case where an idot happened to be listening in as the main engineer on the project gave out the whole
formulas as he talked in his sleep due to being overworked.

suddenly, the sirens come back on, and the comm crackles back to life. "Sir, you're not going to believe this, but..."

position exactly below the Phenix and below it?"

"As far as we can tell sir, they THINK we can fire through it.. Although they didn't make much mention of the incident
on the official channels, which would figure. Too embarassing I'd say. "

"Shame. I was hoping for a more panicky if unofficial response, that would reverberate beyond the Belt into the
Jovian system, so they would not dare to rely on thir shielding systems as they do now.. Never hurts to fill you enemy
with some additional fear, even if it's unreal."

"Anyway, shall I attempt to contact King Freespace's HQ? I mean as far as we can tell, elements of the 2nd dumbest
army are still on the move. Only about 10k from the Crystal Palace. And the cruiser has just landed unloading MCA
commandoes."

"Yes, I think it is time, we explained the stunt we pulled, why we did it and prepared him for the bad news... Unless it
is too late and those Belt scum were able to incinerate Venus to fight to death over Earth... I never did understand
why they like all that gravity? People tend to take things too seriously, when there is lots of gravity involved. Anyway,
keep me posted and make those commandoes fly, if they have to. Seriously, if we are there we better catch those
operatives, before his own royal guards do. The Venusian torture tactics are just beyond contempt, not to mention
the insanity of revenge Dan's troops will then feel obligated to execute upon Venus... This solar system will look like
sands of my ski resort if Freespace doesn't help me get those Outlanders in order."

*Doc checks the radar signature of the approaching Venus task force...*

If I can get freespace to cooperate, I could integrate this fine group into the newly formed Starfleet. Resettle Earth
making sure to keep the scum off and to not repeat the mistakes of the ancients.. Although I personally don't think I
will ever stop on that lousy heavy planet again. Mars is my home now.. Speaking of which..

*Doc takes off in his DG-Delux edition and flies off for another ski run down the slopes of the tallest vulcano known*

bunch of weaklings. Prepare the defenses. I don't want to take any chances. shoot to kill, and only take officers
prisoner." Then interrogate the reasons of this insult to my genious. Use the water torture method. Nobody can resist
having some water dropped on their face continually! HAHAHAHAHA!"

"Yes, sire. Oh, and the pizza guy is here."

"Did you make sure he didn't get here in thirty minutes or less?"

that category. I suppose you noticed I am able to strike with precision, through your beloved shield. I suppose you
also noticed, I did so only to lay waste the enemy operatives camp site, dealing only minor damage to the nearby
minning installation. And finally, I suppose you also noticed I was telling the truth."

*Doc waits a few moments for emphasis, judging whether the information has sunk in the right way.. Those damn
piercing eyes, you can never tell if he's sulking, making faces or day-dreaming..... argh, the things I must do, to keep
this stupid solar system in one piece*

well. To Mars of course. Which was totally unprepared for my arrival and is now mine.

ceres and pallas from the asteroid belt, and then saturn to balance it. You still get more mass with this deal, but I feel
it is more... balanced this way. do not forget that you also get neptune and the kuiper belt. I will refuse to create
a "starfleet" with you, but a permanent peace treaty is more than agreeable to. every other term seems fair."
