Well, space can be a lonely place :)

I'm from the faroe islands. 62º01'N 6º46'W in the middle of the north Atlantic.

We're only 47,000 people in this country, but I've already found another faroese guy in Orbiter
forum.

It might be more efficient, John, for you to check the "official" Orbiter forum...there's already a
HUGE post containing where just about everyone is from.  Search for "nationalities" in the forum
search function.  There's gotta be about 200 people who posted to that.  I would imagine that we
here on Dan's forum are a subset of that group, rather than a superset :)

Cheers,
Dave

p.s. I'm a US citizen, living in Canada, near Edmonton.

Sure, and we also eat children, we call that "Mc-children".... :baaa:

Don't believe what media say... never... there are good and bad people
in every country. France is a very tolerant country as many.
there is many stranger from every country here even many jews.
They don't have problem at all and say hello to muslim neigthboroug
every morning ( I see that almost everyday)
(for recall I work in a jewish bank even I'm not religious at all)

Think twice when you hear what the media say. And if you have question
about France's politic ask me directly and don't relly on media.

I can make emphasis of one things you say in a day and deduce that you hate children...
this is how media work.

I can assure to you that most people here want that every men live in
peace, jews or anyone else that don't matter... peace and happiness for all.

Dan

PS: I'm not sure Ilan can give you virtual sailor for free or just 20 shekels just ask him :)

PS2: where is your Postcard ??? :)

I come from Germany - INFORMATION about the war situation : Germany has got a law which was developed with the american guys afer the second world war - in that law there is a a section where is written that germany is not allowed to do an offence war action - so we cant help attack IRAQ because of our law - thats the way it is... I wanted to say that :)
By the way: if you are visiting Germany check out the Hercules and its Garden in KASSEL - there are many things to discover - like the maze built of plants, the seven mountains - check it out!

I'm not surprised, the first step to hit another group of humain is to define
them as "not humain" (different from us) and with some hidous comportment.
(it's even better if those comportement introduce fear)
So it become easy to kill them without any consciousness problem
while they aren't really "humain"

This is an old story and I'm suprised how it still work today with the modern
communication we have. It work even better. Just show to someone some horrible
things at TV that "xxx" have done (or supposed) and you're ready to hate and hit them.

wonderful planet :???:

Actually the Faroes are a lot like Iceland, but we have no vulcanos. thank GOD :)

I live in the capitol Tórshavn on the largest island Streymoy.

We are a part of Denmark, but we have our own language. It's verry similar to Icelandic but
sounds a bit different (to me anyway)

If you like the sea this is da place to be :) We have 275,000 km² of the stuff.

If you want to learn more here's a good link

http://www.framtak.com/index.html

There are sound clips of Faroese language and music plus tonnes of other stuff.

PS: You can hear some mp3 clips of my cousins CD here ------> http://www.malanthomsen.com/

The picture  of me above was taken yesterday morning inside the forward section of Endeavour.
As you can see this is Endeavour's cockpit which is the older display type. It was supposed to be
powered up when I got there but power up was delayed to later morning. The red box is a cover
for the joystick, helps us from getting too excited. Endeavour is scheduled for STS-115/ISS-18-12-A
(C/R)

Here is another pic.

I noticed in the Orbiter/add-on forum that Endeavour mesh download is on AVSIM. It even has
some cockpit interior just like my two pics above. I will download it tonight and see.

This is an existing shuttle. It is not a mock up for visiters. However I tried feeding the red box with
coins but it wouldn't give me a ride. :)

Looking out the AFT viewing window of the flight deck ( right beyond my head in above photo ) I
was able to snap a picture of the payload bay. You can see the docking port all wrap up. Click link

Yes the blue rectangular patches are velcro.

I work for the company that has responsiblity for the build up and launch of the Space Shuttle.
Each of the employees get "area access" to thier respected work areas. However, my job
function, Environmental Safety, gives me access to every area where we have employees. This
includes the VAB, Shuttle Launch Pads, Orbiter Processing Facilities and Shuttle Landing Facilitiy.
I'm able to walk up to and around any of the shuttle fleet.

Yet with all that I still could not get inside the vehicle itself without an escort. My escort is a friend
who is an engineer for the cockpit displays. Therefore he carries an "Area Permit" for the Mid and
Flight Deck of the Orbiters. Even with an escort we needed to fill out forms, get signatures and go
through check points.

Trivia quiz for the group:

On which space mission was Velcro first introduced, as a means of attaching items that might
otherwise float around in weightlessness?

Gene:

Wow, cool job!  Thanks for the insight...I didn't realize it was so touchy just to get near the
shuttle, but of course now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense :)

Cheers,
Dave

That sound like a great job you have.
I have read last night a whole site really well done
about Apollo's story  there was picture and explaination
about badge and area access. it should be the same
system now.

Sorry, don't know when, but I read somwhere that Colombia had 64,000 cm² of Velcro patches.

It went on to say that the STS was a bi-product of the Velcro industry :)
