The php counter is ready the install is really simple and there is a complete
statistic  page...

I will pack this and send to you in a couple of minute,
are you ready for a chat session on this forum ? :)

I sure am ready for a chat function...get right on that, will you please? ;) hehehehe

To answer your questions in your email, nope, there's just a data.txt file in the counter folder on
the website--no other text files.  And I don't think it's a permission thing, because the permissions
are wide open.

I'm thinking it's probably something to do with how the html file is "calling" the script in terms of
the specified path.  Should it be "/counter/cpt.php", or "../counter/cpt.php",
or "http://www.apfa.ca/counter/cpt.php"?  I tried the last one...with the full path...and it still didn't
work.  Remember the other night, you put that weird slash combination in and it all suddenly
worked?  Pouf? :)

Any other ideas?

The permissions on all the folders on the website is set to rwxrw-rw- .  Is that a bad thing?  Do I
have to call my webhost and tell them to change the permissions just on the "counter" folder to
rwxrwxrwx?

Just tried launching the script from here it's a permission problem
here the result:

"fopen("temp.txt", "w+") - Permission denied in  /counter/
Vérifiez que le dossier est bien en CHMOD 777"

You can try doing a CHMOD 777 from your CuteFTP, but as far as I know, it's just that you can't
change permissions remotely on a Windows webserver, only on a UNIX server.

Which FTP program do I use?  WSFTP Pro...and I don't see any way to chmod from here...it's got a
chmod command in wsftp pro, but it says (unix only) next to it, and I'm not on a UNIX box :(

OHHHHH....you never tried on a Windows server, have you???? :P  Yes, then that would explain it.

I can call my webhost and try to have them change the directory permissions for me.  I could also
call them and ask them to put my website on a UNIX box rather than Windows.  Any reason I
shouldn't?  I can use FTP normally with that, right?

I will probably be around, yes :)  But I don't think it'll work....I'll download CuteFTP myself and try
changing the permissions with that, but I think it's just that I'm on a Windows server.  I'll let you
know...go home, have a life! :)

but I think this could be configured by the provider's (if you have access or not ?)

OK I hurry to home and will be back in 45 mn

It doesn't QUITE work :( not quite a pouf!

The visible counter doesn't seem to increment.  To answer your question, I didn't do a thing to the
script or the directories; I don't think he did either.  Let me delete the temp directories and see....

OK, I deleted all the stuff within the "counter" directory on the webserver, then re-uploaded the
counter directory contents as you emailed them to me.  When I click "Refresh", the
counter......doesn't...........increment...............................wait a minute.  Your script only counts
UNIQUE visitors, yes?
