Well, I hope you'll excuse me for coming into Dansteph's own home to write about another :worry: sound add-on for Orbiter2016...but here it goes:
dbeachy1 (XR Fleet author) has created XRSound, a replacement for OrbiterSound.
It's still young and in Beta form, but it's rather promising.

Why so angry? Dan doesn't hold a monopoly on Orbiter sound platforms, so what is wrong with competition?

I've already voiced my worry about potential conflicts between those two maybe splitting the community. But instead of getting angry about it I've created a sound bridge that allows OS vessels to forward to XRSound. This should mitigate the problem somewhat, and allows XRSound to coexist with OS.
I'm pretty sure that the same can be done in the opposite direction once Dan releases his new 2016 compatible OrbiterSound.

Face, I'm not angry at all, quite the opposite. I welcome competition.

That smiley was only meant to represent "Dansteph's upset fanbase" in an ironic and friendly way.
But as this case shows once again, irony is one of those things that doesn't cross well through a forum post. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I see. Well, let's hope the fanbase is not really upset.

I don't think the fanbase will be upset at all. As Ripley said, competition is good. It may be unfortunate that Dan may have let it OrbiterSound slip a bit this time as something would have been better than nothing. I'm still looking forward to anything new that Dan puts forward as the quality is always rewarding.
