Question about the probe included with UCGO

I installed UCGO earlier today, and it's very nice. One thing I'd like to know more about, though, is the probe. When it lands, it says the XPDR is active, and it is "sending and receiving data." Does it send any information about the atmosphere/whatever, or no? Is that just for looks?

Also, is there a way to track its descent from the Arrow?

For the look and also for the transponder that you can use to land the arrow using the autopilot
tuned on it.
