Hi All,

I am stepping back in for a time here, and I apologize for being gone. Like Dan, real world events have pulled me out of the
Orbiter circle for awhile. I've spent the last 3 months putting in about 70 hours a week on VoIP projects, and when I wasn't
doing that, I was getting CCNA certified (that is a Cisco Networking Certification for those who weren't aware).

It also didn't help that my Brand new Dell XPS laptop crashed soooo bad that Dell had to send me a new one. I am so glad that
Dan keeps the website up and going, because all of my skins and creations would have been lost to time. Thankfully, I also
have some of them backed up.

In any case, I will be poking in and out a bit... It looks like Dan himself is only coming in and out once in a great while.
Maybe I will do some new skins for DGIV, cargo, or PreludeII. Or maybe I will do that long talked about but never done sound
pack.  I have a few ideas bumping around.

Cheers and beers  ,

Hey, Sin Dog, just out of curiosity, when you undertook the CCNA, did you do it in one test or two?

Welcome back, by the way.

Sun Dog back in the house.  :wor: Aw yeah.

Let me also make my own declaration of returning candidate for DanSteph greatness at this time.
Things are a little quiet, but the open beta for the next version of Orbiter looks pretty sweet.

All the old ones need to return in groves... hard times lay ahead for those who stray from the flock. :drunk: :)

We are going :off: here, but as folks here know, I like to help. I want to do just that in this case.

Jimmy me boy, I took the test in two chunks. The new 640-802 CCNA test is available, however, I got tired of seeing all of my
coworkers taking the old 801 test 3 and 4 times before passing. I broke the test into the new 640-822 ICND1 and passed on my
first shot. I earned the CCENT certification. That basically tells your employer that you can log into a switch or router and
do minor troubleshooting. It's something.

The 640-816 test is a bear still, but I passed it on my first shot too. I don't like paying $125USD for my exams, and not
passing them. You really have to know access-lists, NAT and PAT, EIGRP, OSPF, VLANS, and spanning-tree very well to do well.
It took me three months of study/simulation including about 160 hours of my own free time to do well.

Recommended tools to pass CCNA:

CCENT/CCNA ICND1 Official Exam Certification Guide by Wendall Odom
CCNA ICND2 Official Exam Certification Guide by Wendall Odom
Sybex CCNA Virtual Lab Titanium Edition by Todd Lammle and William Tedder

You will spend about $250.00USD on books and the lab, but that may not be a lot for most of you since the USD is in the
toilet right now. It is well worth it.

Now- I have a question that is "ON TOPIC" :applause: . How do you make a chrome looking skin. I have tried tweaking RGB
values, but just seem to come up with a bright gray. I doubt it is possible at this point, but I am trying to get some
affirmation from you all- the learned brain trust :prof:

Cheers and thanks to all,

Pitty that I'm only 15... and Australian...

Though hopefuly, when I'm old enough to realise that the RAAF is a pipe dream, and move to America purely because of the
relaxed gun laws, and decide to undertake the CCNA (assuming I haven't been shot during a gang war (crossfire and wayward
bullets, folks, I'm not the type that join gangs), I'll remember this thread, and track you down and ask for the answers at
gun-point.
