It might help others to help you if we know better what problem you're having with the skin SDK.

After you get stuck reading the friendly manual...

Are you having trouble with the paint program you're using? Perhaps someone can point you to a nice tutorial.

Are you having trouble understanding how the flat texture image applies to a 3D model? Study at the ATV skin layer (IIRC, the
SDK has the ATV skin as an example), and study a DGIV with the ATV skin in Orbiter. Play around with the texture a bit. Put a
few splotches of paint here and there, save / convert it as a (oops... I forget the correct format... DDS? DXF? You can tell
I do a heck of a lot of texturing :) ), then take a look at that in Orbiter.

Sure... it's a bit late to do a Christmas 2007 skin, but we've got Valentines Day, Leap Day, St. Patty's Day, Easter...
Christmas 2008...
