No mods to be made. All mods will have to be 3rd party. Sorry. Dan spent 6+ months doing 16 hour days to bring this awsome
add-on to you free of charge.

Dan has provided very nice SDKs though. Perhaps you could make one out of a cargo container.     :top:

Cheers,

I could do it, but I would have to charge you like umm.. millions of dollars per second.  (100% of which would all go to
Dan.. I Swear!)  ;)

Naw, really... The SDK (DevelopmentKit) makes it pretty straight-forward to learn basic modding.  If you took a crack
at figuring it out yourself, I'm sure a few of us could answer a few basic questions for you... but only if YOU took the
time to learn it yourself.  Otherwise, why would we develop something we really don't find useful ourselves ?
We already have eject & recovery overkill :)

here take a look at this : http://www.orbiterwiki.org/wiki/Free_Compiler_Setup it should tell you all you need. If you need
more advice first check the ummu sdk manual then ask on the forum

THIS by the way is an EXCELLENT idea. If not by function we could at least make a texture that resembles an escape capsule
for future use.

You wouldn't really need to code it. You could just set the cargo to eject in space at a higher velocity. Does anyone know if
the cargo container can accept a UMmu at the docking port? With this being an addon by Dan, I can't see why it wouldn't be.

Problem is that the standard cargo container isn't big enough to fit 5 people in plus life support systems. Heck, even
without the life support systems it would still only fit 3 people, barely.

If you still want this, you'll probably end up with the Mmu's sitting on top of the escape pod, with the pod filled with life
support systems, and some basic RCS systems. The Mmu's would have to attach some air hoses to there suits to replenish there
air, and attach waste hoses to collect there, well, waste ;)

Then they could stay alive in space for a few days, before they die from lack water.

Still it'll be alot of work to code :)

Hooo
I have a good advice for you: just forget it.
making the most basic add-on for orbiter eg: a flying gray cube, requiere at leat one year of experience with multiple
modeling and rendering, and C++   softwares, and a good knowledge relative to orbiter SDK and for basic vessel, Vinka's
Spacecraft generic configurating.

And also, an escape pod , for the DG4 whould be a, forgive me, stupid idea, as an escape pod with 5 seat whould be someting
like 2/3 the size of the DG himself, as the DG IV is small enought to BE an escape pod...

Well thats kinda overdoing it, I made my first add-on in 1 day, granted it was nothing more then a flying watertank made in
Anim8or converted using Vinka's 3ds2msh and powered by a rather simple config file. And i had no experience at all with
Anim8or, 3ds2msh or orbiter's config files. Saying you need a year of experience to make a basic add-on will only discourage
new add-on creators.

Although choosing a complexly C++ powered project as your very first add-on really is a very bad idea, after weeks of work
you'll realise you'd better start with something smaller and work your way up cause your hitting so many walls :(

I completely agree herein.

I think Felix here was intending on exaggerating the amount of time to get his point across-- Start-up can be
frustrating, there's no denying it, but once you get rolling things go great after that.

And definitely start small (don't decide to take on the next generation of DGs as your first project ;)), you should
probably start with a cube, or something like the shuttle PB at the absolute most.

But like I said the DG IV is too small to benefit from an escape pod, maybe individual life support SEATS, packing some
oxygen and a little more fuel than the jet pack should do the job, until a second DG IV can reach the "hitch-hikers"

Soyuz will never fit in the DGIV's cargo hold ;)
