Properly modelling and programming a new ship for Orbiter is quite an undertaking. Adding a virtual cockpit makes it at least
doubly so. If you take a look at the release dates for Orbiter addons, you will find that there are relatively few that have
been written yet for the latest version (not including older addons that have been retooled for the latest version).
That is not to say that older addons won't work. Many will and will give you many hours of entertainment.
Now, about asking for someone to write such an addon ... Lotsa luck. Many have asked, few have responded. Those that have
responded, is because the genre of craft interests them. As for Star Wars or other scifi craft ... well most come from
universes that don't quite have the reality of physics in this universe on which Orbiter is modeled. Hence, relatively few of
the available developers will entertain your request.
What to do? Learn, my young friend. Read the complete manual and the SDK. Get the appropriate tools and learn how to model
your own craft. Use the examples in the SDK and authors source code that has been released and write your own ship dlls (or
cut and paste to make yours go).
Remember that most of the addons that are available for Orbiter took at least six months to develop from scratch. Orbiter is
freeware. The available addons are freeware. None of us gets paid. It really is a labour of love. What do you think are the
chances of someone dedicating a six month block of time to fulfil your request (while sitting idly by) at the expense of his
own plans if there is no particular benefit to himself?
It can happen. Just convince them of the benefits of doing this for you.
