Okay Dan, soon as I download the lastest beta (it's 2240 here and it takes around an hour!). I'm
going to do a fresh install of Orbiter2005, the DGIII, and the new OrbiterSound beta.  Then we'll
go from there.  :top:  Launchpad holds the .DLL's?

Yes it does... in fact when you come back in launchpad nothing is released, dll, textures, ships etc etc...

Okay, Dan!  Everything works perfectly!  I downloaded the OS1000.exe and installed it into a clean
install of Orbiter2005, and DGIII.  I set the option in soundconfig to "Play MP3 in Cockpit View" and
when the scenario loaded, the music was playing internally.  When I switched to the external
view, the MP3 stopped playing.  The Debug message is gone, and the message that one of
the spacecraft was set up for the OS2.5 format displayed itself as it should.  Nice Work, I think you
can wrap this one!

Do you recall last year when the EVA was added to the DGIII, I had that wierd bug where the
DG would always accelerate on the Z axis until it was so far away from the EVA crewmember
it couldn't be seen?  Well, I'm pleased to announce that with the new Orbiter that bug is gone!  I
can now do EVA's constantly and the DG stays put.

  Thanks, Dan!

One thing I would like to suggest: How about personal playlist for flying in space and in athmosphere?
For example some western music for ascends/reentries and blue danube for athmosphere?

I have problems running my DGT with sound on the new version (altough the previous one works fine). I'll be checking is sound
the problem, but I think it is.

I would like to have OrbiterSound configured so that mp3's will play in cockpit, only, but with the scenario starting
with mp3's off. That way, I can get the ship ready to take off, or whatever, and THEN turn the music on.

If I configure OrbiterSound to have mp3's disabled ( "never play mp3's" ), then I cannot turn them on, at all - since, in
that case, shift-k crashes Orbiter to desktop, while generating the following OrbiterSound_Log:

OrbiterSound 3.0 ver. Jan 18 2005  Log Started
***********************************************

Passed initModule - Ok
attempting focus change...
Focus not ready bypassing focus change - Ok
Attempting RenderViewport initialisation...
Attempting GetStartValue initialisation...
Passed GetStartValue - Ok
Initialising directsound...
directsound initialised - OK
Passed RenderViewport - Ok
Attempting Mp3 initialisation...
Mp3 initialised - Ok

Please add to OrbiterSound config, an option to have Orbiter start, with mp3's not playing, until I turn them on,
manually - although otherwise configured to play internally or whatever.

Thanks very much.

David

Dan! 8o

You're popping these betas out like your hair's on fire or something! :)

and here I haven't even installed the "1000" version yet.... :pfff:

well, I think I'll just hold off until the final is out. I've got to focus on school more than ever these next few weeks.

Fixed - Main Thrust test sound plays okay. :top:
Fixed - Brute Force MP3 playing works okay.  Deleted all the files from the /Mp3 folder and added my
own.  All played properly, even my 24K Mp3.

That's all I had issues with. It's a good final if no one comes up with anything else.  Just rename it
OrbiterSound3.0!

mhhh with the 2000 version ? can you be more precise on your problem ?

I'll tend to keep things simple it has been proven that when things goes complicated nobody use it
the "never play" is do for this purpose already:

Fire the radar MFD SHF-R and press SHF-K three time fast... you'll be in "cockpit only" and the music will
start (if the display mfd is slow it's because you have 1second update configured in Orbiter's launchpad)

Anyway if you have a CTD there is a bug that I must clear so I'll need more information.
1-is it the 2000 version ? "1000" was buggy with MP3
2-do you installed it WITHOUT orbiter running ?
3-can you play at anytime somes MP3 or never ?

strangely the log doesn't sound like the problem you describ, if it really crash
after SHF-K you should have an "MP3 attempt to load ...." at least... the log
look like no Mp3 where found at start so the list is empty... as the bug in the 1000 version....

So if you really test it on 2000 and are sure that you installed it while Orbiter wasn't running
can you send me your playlist ?

Thanks for testing...

Dan

Comment?

3.0 runs okay, but when running STS Historical w/Challenger, get message that scenario was designed with 2.5 in mind.

JC

It's supposed to give you that message when it starts.  It's telling you that the ships in the scenario are
compiled with the OS 2.5 SDK, and functions like "Silence of Space" won't function with those models.

Sure, that mean that OrbiterSound dll isn't installed while a vessel request to connect
to it... that might be an old log ?

As said Christopher this is normal... I kept compatibility for older addon but they still have the older
functionality not the new one. So in brief all seem to working nominal for you.

If you want some feedback, Dan, I'd suggest you take out that message about the scenario being designed for 2.5.
I'd just put a note about it in the documentation (everyone reads the documentation, right Dan?) ;)  I don't think the
line on the bottom of the screen at scenario startup is really going to help many folks; if OS3 doesn't work in a
scenario designed at 2.5 (it does for me, by the way), I think most folks who've figured out how to download and
install 3.0 to begin with would figure that they have to try an earlier version.

That would not do the Job Dave I can almost already hear the thousand complaint of peoples
stating  that "there is a bug with 3.0, I can here a sound in space with -this- add-on"
And this message will also push the author to upgrade their vessel.

in fact several peoples already complained about this "sound in space bug" in the previous
beta of 3.0 where the message wasn't here.

Minor flaw (5 sec message) but major benefice: author upgrade their vessel and far less complaints in forums.

And nobody read the doc, several people (20% 30%?)  aren't even aware that there was
a soundconfig.exe in the 2.5 this is why now you have an icon.. it have not other purpose
than warn the user... "hey but .. there's something here"

Cheers,

Dan

Dan,
V2000 of OS 3.0 seems to work just fine. So far no CTD. I've run it with the v3.6 Shuttle Fleet with no problems. Thank
you, great work!! Now get some rest, take care of yourself and your family.

--------------

It was the 2000 version (the behavior, in this regard, is the same as that for version 1000, and the previous version,
also)

It was installed without Orbiter running

MP3's play fine, if I configure as "only in cockpit" or "only external". The ctd, with shift-k, occurs when OS has been
configured as "never play mp3's" (this has been my attempt to start the scenario without mp3's playing, and then
start them playing, when I want to hear music). I can start a scenario with music playing, by configuring as "in
cockpit" or I can have a scenario without any music ever, by configuring as "never play mp3's"; what I cannot do, is
start the scenario without music and then turn it on (which is what I want), since the only seeming way to turn it on,
when "never play mp3's" has been configured, would be with shift-k, which merely produces crash to desktop.

My playlist is the default one, that was created by the installation of OS. Its contents are pasted, below:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:211,Bach - Air on a G string
Bach_Air_on_a_Gstring.mp3

The log file was what existed when OS had been configured as "never play mp3's", and then I pressed shift-k while
in the radio mfd. Its time/date-stamp is of that Orbiter session which ended in a ctd after pressing shift-k.

David
