Hi ppl

I am a bit experimenting with the DGIII reentry, but me and my crew never survive it due to high
temperatures :hot:. I use the AP for reentry (40° AOA) but at which moment do you have to lower
the AOA and when is the best moment to fly horizontally? Also, where do you have to do a
retrograde burn to de-orbit and is it necessary to do the S-turns like the shuttle?

Many questions, I know, but can someone just explain the perfect DGIII reentry? It would be highly appreciated :applause:

Thanks in advance :)
Pt

Pt

I had the same problem, but i used the DGII manual to find out how to do it and now i nearly
always re-enter perfectly. But my landings are a little rough.

As i said use the DGII manual if you have it. That's what i did.

Yes, use the DGII manual.

Also, be sure to use 40 degrees angle of attack and make sure you're ship weight is under 19
tons.  Then leave the ship alone on autopilot at 40 degrees AOA until your speed drops to Mach 3.

That last is difficult!  It took me 4 tries to get a successful re-entry.  The first three times I crashed
and burned, because I thought the ship was getting too hot and I played with the AOA, which
made things worse.  Sit on your hands if you need to, but don't touch those controls!  LOL!

Don't bank either, you will likely burn up.  When your speed drops to Mach 3, go into aircraft
mode.  Make a powered approach to landing, if you need to.

Good Luck.  :hot:

Ok, i can manage the reentry... just run PRO104SPEC40 and sitted on my hands lookin at monitor!

I'm curious to know how to calc the reentry disance (in manual is 10.60M) if the altitude is higher
or lower than iss orbit... some hint?

This is a good question.  :wall:

I kind of cheat.  I just set up a 360km altitude circular orbit and then follow the DGII Manual.  ;)  :)
