I started a deorbit burn from a circular orbit at around 250km, and got a reentry angle of 1.20
degrees. I try to manually hold an AOA of 40 degrees, but after I get below about 60km the RCS
thrusters can't seem to hold that AOA and the nose starts slipping down, and then I burn up.
Haven't tried the reentry autopilot but I shouldn't have to use an autopilot to reenter the
atmosphere...

Well I found out why I couldn't do it. I tried the reentry autopilot and it worked. I noticed that
during the reentry autopilot, the flow for the RCS thrusters got up to about 0.15 kg/s before
lowering. However, the max flow you can get with manual controls is about 0.05kg/s. So, the
autopilot techincally cheats, and it is impossible to do manually (at least with a reentry angle of
1.2 and AOA of 40).

Any suggestions, or will this get fixed?

I'll tweak the whole things...
You just discovered a cheat.... the autopilot use more powerful
thruster ;)

Basically, the DGIII has the wrong shape for 40° AoA. Depending on it's Center of Gravity, a Craft
with such a Shape will have very big problems to fly at all. (Try to test it with X-Plane). Maybe
tweaking the aerodynamic Flight Model will help getting rid of the cheat.

I was thinking to a "move CG" (fuel tranfert?)  to maintain this AOA if it would be a real plane...

anyway it's not ;)  I must tweak the flight model.

At 40 AOA the wings are fully stalled.
