While not the best of choices, sometimes I like the mobility of laptops. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to implement Orbiter on a laptop?  Best addons to use in this setup?

Have fun discussing this one.

I use a laptop myself.

I have 2 copies of Orbiter installed.  One for testing the other for play.

I run orbiter 2010 P1E on my laptop with the D3D9 client.  It runs wonderfully.  I get 50 FPS on ground, and up to 180-200 FPS when in orbit.  I believe I ran D3D11 once, but it was too much for my internal gfx card.

Maybe this has changed, but I remember having serious problems running orbiter without a dedicated numberpad. I think there was a way to work around it but at the time it seemed like a pain. I even considered buying a USB numpad. lol

Shouldn't have any problems like that. I ran it on a laptop with no numpad perfectly.  Just use that addon virtual numpad. Should be up on Orbit Hangar.

I have multiple copies on my laptop. I just bought a new one with a number pad on it, but before I always just bought a keyboard. I am using Windows 8 and haven't had any problems with it yet. I also use Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and Windows 8 is giving me big problems with it.

I know the work that needs to be done to get Flight Sim X to run on Windows Vista and newer, so I could imagine the issues you would run into with FS9 using the more modern versions of Windows.
