Some of you may find fraps very usefull for capturing orbiter. But since it costs 37$ I've searched the internet and found
this: http://taksi.sourceforge.net/

In the demo videos it looks very nice but I'll first have to find out how to capture orbiter with it so if someone should try
it too post your experiences here please.

OK I've tried Taksi now and it doesn't really work with orbiter.
So I've searched the internet again and I found this old version of fraps which is
FREEware:http://www.chip.de/downloads/FRAPS_13007435.html

The only problem is that this version only records a resolution of 640x480 and that the recorded videos are little...faster...

Attention: it's an older version, that means it may be less atractive than the one you are used to.

does it support sound recording whilst it records video? i just installed it and there is no sound that is recorded.  I guess
if it don't i will have to record it from my mic.

Yes, you're right, there's no register, it's completely free. And no, it doesn't record audio.
