It's a pretty broad topic. Perhaps you could specify what direction you want to approach the project.

Some suggestions:

Learn how to fly and manipulate the Dragonfly and/or get real good at using the Shuttle and arm.

There are several packages of station compents on OrbitHangar. Go get 'em.

Take a look at Greg Burch's body of work ... fantastic stuff.

Have fun.

Also, have a look at Mustard's website (can't remember the addy, but it'll be on his profile, have a look in the French
section of this forum and you'll find him), he has lots of components of things on there.

You could also look at this Link below. I recently started figuring out how to build stations.

In the 4th post I include a few links that got me started on the station building adventure.. Hope it helps.

http://orbiter.dansteph.com/forum/index.php?topic=10502.msg168416#msg168416

Keep in mind that I been flying Orbiter on and off for over 2 years now, trying all kinds of stuff with making senarios,
adjusting configs and such.

But if your serious about building a station it's a great feeling once it all makes a little more sense.. All it takes is time,
patience, trial and error, and of course a good forum like this one to ask for help along the way in your adventures.

Good luck in your researches... :)

You have the choice..
First you can simulate the buiding of a station.. by flying to space from earth with a piece of equipment..
Second you can try to make a station in space by editing a cfg file...

If using an RMS arm, position the module's docking port to the docking port on another module. Then release from
the arm. If pushing a module, like in the Dragonfly, position it the same, and undock yourself from it.

It's not that easy to explain. It uses the attachment mechanism (as opposed to docking)

I suggest you take a look at one of the scenarios with shuttle Atlantis and see how the relationship between Atlantis and a
sattelite is defined.. That should give you an idea of how to create your own. Also you'll need to read the manual about how
to create scenarios, so it will all make sense. (You do not have to actually put the sat into the cargo bay of the shuttle.
You just write the scenario with it inside the shuttle..)

All in all, Orbiter is a LOT about studying and takes patience to master - certain aspects more than others of course.

True. Scenarios are static -> they don't change after you've played them, BUT...

Whenever you exit Orbiter a special scenario is created, called "(Current state).scn" in the Scenario folder of your Orbiter
folder. If you load it, you will continue playing where you left off! If you leave it, it will be overwritten the NEXT time you exit Orbiter, so be careful, if you have plans with it.

By renaming that file, you get a new scenario BASED on your last state within Orbiter. You can just use it as it is or change it.

Also, while in orbiter you can press CTRL-S and you will safe the currecnt state without exiting Orbiter -> take a snapshot
in a way. You will find those saved scenarios in the folger Orbiter -> Scenarios -> Quicksave, and their names will be
variations of the original scenario name you were playing (example: "TX and Deltaglider 0001.scn"). Again you can change and
re-use those.

Well it would be just like trying to find the ISS or MIR, use your MFD's.
