I have a newer(er) laptop now and......

I can run Orbiter on it! w00t!

Although it works best only in 800x600.

This means I now have tons of time to start making my own addon as I can finally put to work alot of the time I'm sitting in
between rounds at work to good use...now...where's the motivation...

Just be careful about spending too much time on Orbiter stuff while you are supposed to be at work. Down that road
you find Travmind.

You might have to search the past threads of the M6 forum to catch up on this one, but ...

Travmind was/is an Orbitnaut who was around for quite awhile. About a year ago he dropped out of sight, apparently
having lost his employment and departing from his family. One explanatory message, purporting to be from his lady
indicated that at least part of the reason for his employment termination was too much involvement with Orbiter
(writing addons, etc) while on the job. According to the message from his lady, this led to or was followed by
negligent inattention to domestic financial details.

Several of us who have conversed with him through the years are waiting, with hope, for him to resurface again.

The details that were presented, and the tone of his last emails to me, seem to indicate a man deeply in depression.
It can only be hoped that he finds the help he needs and reenters a useful life.

The crux of the whole affair should be a warning to all of us. Orbiter, and other entertainments are a lot of fun and
educational. But they have their place. When obsession creeps in, it can destroy what is important. For the younger
of us, what is important is education. For those of us a little older, family should always be first and foremost, and this
includes employment, which permits security for our families.

If you want another example of what can happen to an Orbinaut when you allow it to become obsession, research
what happened to NightLanding.

It is a very good thing that we are not all of a piece.

Could be a number of reasons. I've been hangin' around here a lot of moons, too, and am not involved. Never really
had it all explained to me.

If you feel like educating me ... fire off a private message ( until I get my home network rebuilt,  please use

I know this is a bit of a techy question, but does anyone know the performance issues with running a 533mhz FSB processor on
a 400mhz FSB limit motherboard. I heard somewhere it would run, but never got any performance details.

Not quite Useless

I was controlling flightsim just now, and a 737 I was controlling had a birdstrike on takeoff.
Lost engine
lost hydraulics
uncommanded thrust reversal.

He crashed, that was fun to deal with.

indeed paging makes things more organizable BUT it also makes finding stuff in the archives a real female dog to find and there's no way in h-
e-doublehockeysticks that I'm going to open a new gupt with so few posts.

that said I'm still downloading the new orbiter...   boy I'm spoiled rotten..

300KB/s download time and I'm still yelling at my PC to go faster..

I wonder how I'd tolerate dial-up nowadays... *shudder*

I'll be posting screenies of my handiwork later on.

until then folks.!

Is that Internet Explorer? Why are you using Internet Explorer?

I think I recall having this discussion with you guys a long time ago.. but while a lot has changed, I still use IE although..

I'm using about half IE and half firefox.  in fact, in order to discourage IE usage, I even deleted the icon from my desktop. I still don't have the
commitment nor nessecety to really make that last push however, so I'm still on the border to happiness.

That particular picture was just when I was using IE, but I admit I hate firefox's downloading system. it's too newfangled to use correctly,
and I really hate having to clear the download history everyso often, as opposed to the simple small window that needs to be closed per
download. maybe there's a way to get around that, but I'm lazy so....

nah.

It's not finished and I don't have it near anything that would be readable.
I'm still working on it though.

but such things take long amounts of time and I've been short on that for a long time.

I'll release it once it's done but like orbiter, it's not a thing that'll get done in one day. :(
