First, I know this isnt a tech-support forum, but it's the only one I post to, so I thought it might be best to ask here
first....

:help:

OK, after making a quick trip to the moon and back, I figured Mars was a good next step, and TransX looks like it's going to
take about6 weeks to use properly so I decided to use Transfer MFD.

Anyway, I seem to have a slight problem - I managed to calculate the injection burn, and execute it (although the timing was
an estimate, it seemed to be ok and I managed to correct the minor shift off target when Earth gravity was 1% of the total).
So, I was in the elliptic orbit, with the transfer MFD showing that I was on target to arrive at the intersection at the same
time as Mars, I aligned planes and fired up the Sync Orbit MFD to check the times to intersection. It was out by quite a
large gap (about 100ksec) so I burned towards the sun to change the orbit path until it was within about 1ksec. I then
engaged time warp (to the max) to see how it panned out.

Now, Mars' position 'line' in the Sync and Transfer MFDs didnt move at all. In addition, neither did the target time to
intersection, although my time was coming down as it should. Also, I set the orbit MFD up to REF=Sun, TGT=Mars and both
orbits were progressing as they should, but they still weren't moving at all in the Transfer and Sync MFDs (I also checked
the orbit of the graphical planet using F9 and that was progressing).

So, I quicksaved, exited and re-entered the sim, now the orbit line for mars had jumped to where it should be, as had the
target time to intersection in the Sync MFD - but when I engaged time acceleration they remained stationary in the same two MFDs.

Obviously, it is quite hard to plan the orbit insertion without these two MFDs, and I missed the target - has anyone else had
this problem, is it a known issue? Or am I making a mistake somewhere? I was using Dan's DGIII, by the way. I am going to try
(again) to get clued up on TransX anyway, but I would have liked to have done this the easy way first....

Any input would be much appreciated :wonder:

Sod it, I did it using TransX, finally understood how to use it!

Ah well, it's nice to be on Mars after months in that DG.

While it may  seem tedious and/or a waste of time, beware using time acceleration. I find that 10 to 1000x is OK but anything
higher begins to show instabilities (even for the new version).

Enjoying the trip is what it's all about.  That's why there's OrbiterSound.  While away the hours while playing your
favourite mp3s.

And for that unique experience ... pop the cabin hatch while you're enroute.
