then it must be that "reload" thing. I don't know what the trick is.... but having the login display is certainly a clue to
it.. Do you have cookies deactivated or something like that?

Question for you guys about BBCode:

How do I actually SHOW the BBcode so that it is NOT parsed... example:

I want to show people how to make a bold hello.

So here goes:
Here is how you make the the bold [b ] hello [/b ] (but without the spaces)

There must be way to show code as-is without extra spaces and such. I've seen it done, but I can't duplicate it. It's crucial
I learn this, otherwise I cannot make templates for the nation data :( And I really want to..... the [ code ] tag doesn't do
the trick either... you get this:

Code: [Select]
See, it [b]doesn't[/b] let me show the BBCodes.... just the [u]result[/u]..

How do THEY do it then? (see examples http://vidmar.org/drupal/filter/tips/1#filter-bbcode - copy/past as now even URL
doesn't work here properly :wall: but I guess the # invokes some kind of safety feature here )

Frustrated... help...

I know of at least one way it could be done.
Create an HTML page where you have written the BBCode and then use HTML tags to show the result. Just a little page to show
what BBCode tags are allowed/available. It could be made to fit in as a block when viewing pages that allow you to post. It
could also be linked to.
There is likely a better solution, but this is what I can think of ATM.

Hm.. good point, I might make a custom block with buttons for BBCode, just as Dan has them here for bold, italic, etc.
but that's not what I need this for. I needed it so people could copy/paste a template for the nation records and not
be bothered by typing all the BBCode (for bold and underlined titles). Instead they just fill-in the missing data.

Like this here: http://vidmar.org/drupal/?q=node/72

Hm. I have another idea though, it's crude, but it will work, 100% :)

Cheers,

Posting a pic of my upcoming OSN Integrator interface (it's simple but works:)).
Got the scenario/bases thing done. Next thing is file copying.
Hoping to make it an Orbiter addon manager after it's done.

that looks pretty promesing!!
:)
I hope to use the OSN site as a platform for the OPTA. But this would require a forum I guess, just for my nation.
Structured by me (or whoever), but open to entrys for everyone. Is this possible? The comments you can make now,
are non-structured, and when there are more users, it'll get quite a mess.

Yeah, funny you should mention that :) The forum is the only part of this system, that we all agree rather sucks. Maybe when
I clean up the interface (both sidemenus and design), it will look more useful. But the system is very flexible, so anything
basically goes. I still need to install a module for even more precise control of user rights which will basically let me
set up a special group for that. Something along the lines of Intrustors and Spaceflight Academy Managers :)

On the other hand Travis Reed is hopefully going to put up his forum up again soon. His is a LOT more easy-to-use and looks
better. I'm sure he could set a side a special subforum for OPTA.

Cheers,
Janez

Oh, yeah, setting up another forum is quite easy using that forum software. On the other hand, it is taking longer than
anticipated to actually do the router configuration I need to, mostly a time (or lack there of) issue. It isn't my router and
I don't want to seem pushy on the subject with the owner (who is gracious enough to aloow me to use it anyway). The router
itself is in-house so it's not like I'm leeching off of a neighbor's internet connection. I hope to have time and opportunity
to configure the router in the next few days (yeah, been saying that for a week or so now...)...

Bah!
So, I get into the router via the web config, and put my computer into the DMZ as well as set up port forwarding and port
triggering for the web server and IRC server... The settings get saved and all that.
I go to test things out and I get this lovely timeout...
With the way things are looking now, it is unlikely that I will be able to host the forum at this time. Doesn't mean I won't
be able to host it when I move outta here in a few months though...

I haven't given up totally yet, I still have a few tricks up my sleeve, but for the night, it ain't happenin...:(

I've even tried coming in using my IP and it doesn't work. There doesn't appear to be a problem on the other side of the router.

Damn Linksys routers...I can't seem to have it set up a permanent IP address for a specific MAC address *wants to hookup his
NetGear router instead*

As I said, I still have a few tricks up my sleeve.

It's not called convience, it's called M$. They designed Windows so that you HAVE to use IE for certain things. Personally I
think Microsoft needs competition. With competition we should get lower prices and faster developments thanks to the
capitalist system. Random and off-topic, sorry guys.

So guys, what are your current thoughts about OSN site? The current developments are in the Status Reports.

I sort of ran out of ideas and won't have much time this week to work on it, so I am open to suggestions for the
weekend, when I hope to fiddle with it again...

Cheers,

The comments system is a little wierd and will take a bit of getting used to. But I think the design part of it is great.
Good job.
