It's the patch 050126 that apply on 050116 installation. You can download the patch
alone from Martin's
site
or download the complete base and SDK already patched
from dansteph.com (click download button)

Don't forget to patch your Orbiter from 050116 to 050126 !

you can see the change log
here

For those that like the DGIII the good news is that with this patch the EVA don't CTD anymore, it was a problem with
Orbiter himself (MFD I suppose) (A new DGIII is planned today with somes others fix also, watch forum)

Dan

Bah, one button to click (eventually you might also browse to give the orbiter's folder)
that doesn't sound too difficult :)

mmmh.

I disgress. It's more like 4 or 5 clicks. :)

and to top that off, I run the risk of screwing up something with overwriting files and stuff.

but I'll survive....

heh, well, I don't know about you, but I am already OVERWHELMED :)

New orbiter, new path
new orbiter sound, new patches
new DGIII patches

If you ask me, I don't have the foggiest what version I currently have :)

My usual reaction to this is to hide in a corner, download nothing and wait until things calm down a bit, hehe

I think Doc's aproach is the wisest.

[How's that home connection coming on Doc?]

I don't think so, a patch or a new release is made to correct things. I don't see the difficulties
to click on three links and unziping and even more using two installers well know for working without flaws.
(there is no patch for OS 3.0 , the previous version were BETA as always stated in CAPITAL)

Anyway as anyone is free, you can even keep the 031217 if you feel better with it

That's my wise advice ;)

for recall:
16 january - Release of Orbiter 050116
22 january - Release of OrbiterSound 3.0
22 january - Release of DGIII 2005
26 january - Release of Orbiter patch 050126
29 january - Release of DGIII 2005 v2

Well Dan, You've got a point, but you've got to understand that so much new stuff is coming out now, that we literally
had to start fresh again, and with some addons coming out several times, it can get very hard to keep track of the
whole thing. Doc's method is just waiting for the dust to settle, and when things become slow like before again, he'll
download everything.

I actually try to get things done most of the time, but I usually don't have much progress. I think I've got most
everything OK now, but I've yet to get the new dg3 version.. I'm still half-expecting a new one to come out and make
this one pointless to download. just like doc, probably.... :)

I understand very well I'm really sorry if I'm a bit harsh but YOU have to understand my
point of view also: (nothing personnal free I appreciate you)

I work since two weeks to update Orbiter things under pressure leaving an important job
for my familly's future just to make free stuff.

...

If everyone take this approach and wait the final release of everything one must not complaint later
that there is still bugs in the add-on because nobody took care to test them during beta.
the fact that only about 10 peoples bothered to take 5 mn to write bugs about OS and DGIII
during beta pissed me off.  I give them one week free that will also cost me money and most ppls
don't care to give me 5mn.
Of course once final out they come into forum with "bug this, bug that" often asking
without politness. (I don't tell that for the users of this forum)

That would not piss me so much of course if I don't saw the download counter,
if nobody use my add-on I can't wait that people bother to test them but the OS 3.0
was downloaded 3600 times since one week and the DGIII 2005 2000 time.

And last; OS3.0 release announce in M6 saw three peoples writting thanks and the DGIII v2 announce
... one  (again download counter ... the DGIII v2 have 300 download since yesterday)

So in the final I know that people are happy to have my add-ons and they thanks me silently
in their head this is why I'll continue.

But you must admit  it's a bit hard for the moral to see that YOU give much of your time and money and peoples
doesn't bother to give 5mn of their time for you... they just wait that things come already cooked.
I know that most peoples don't have time (seem 0.0027% on 3600 ppl only have somes)...
I don't have time also... I DON'T have time.... But I took it.

So forgive me if I'm a bit harsh. that was just the "saturday's freeware authors complaint" The cup was full.

By chance Orbiter is free otherwise OS 3.0 would be priced 30$ now.

Dan

No, no.. I'll shut up now. :)

I understand perfectly.

personally, If I were you, I'd wait until the FSpassenger thingy was done before going into orbiter again. ;) but you're
a great guy, dan. There will always be people who want their cake, and to eat it too.. but you know, they say that
how people deal with these sort of situations determines their character, and you seem to have lots of character.
(OK, that was cheesy, so sue me. ;) )

That wasn't harsh at all. I personally think it's good to vent these sorts of things. Lest you build up steam and have
your head pop off one day, and that wouldn't be good for anyone. :)

Anyways, I'm going to be playing AOE II in a bit. Should promise to be interesting, as I'm going up against two of my
relatives in two different states over the internet. :)

Take it easy, dan. You're easily cooler than everyone! (except for me, in which case you're only marginally cooler)

WARNING!!! :off: POST!

@Freespace: AOE II = Age of Empires II? (not that I have it...it simply occurred to me as I was going to post "AOE II = ?"
that it might be Age of Empires II)

@everyone: Dan's coolness factor is second only to Martin's.

AOEII could mean "Age of King" or Age of Empire "rise of rome"

I meant Age of Empires II: Age of Kings!

And to clear up the coolness factor:

I am the second-most coolest person on this forum besides dan. (though it's close) ;)

all the others are way behind us, practically tied for third in comparison. :)

Ha, you don't have the expansion (or do your relatives not have it?)!

Anyway, why does there have to be a patch every time a new Orbiter comes out? Not that I'm complaining, I just
thought that all the bugs are ment to be spotted by the BETA TESTERS! Dan, you were supposed to find all the bugs!
:grrr:

hehe :)

Okay, I knew Dan would say that and he is of course right. I'm just overwhelmed with all the new things around
here, so I try to take it easy. For you guys who are used to whatever net connection you have it's different.

Yes, beta testing IS a way to help developers and I promise I will add my share to problem solving just as soon as I
figure out all the perks.. NAMELY, Atom, since you ask about the connection. I was offline from about 2pm today
(that's like 10 hours), just because the connection died and I didn't know what it was. Turns out all I had to do was
restart my b-router!!!! duh...... I feel rather stupid..

Anyway, guys, download the patched and help the developers make them better! :)

I'm very glad that you seem to recall at least the name of the game
about what this forum is meant.

Thanks for your contribution to the community, come back often :)

C'mon, guys... even ME... yes, the weasely old dial-up guy... has all the newly available Updates !

Waaaay back when I was making games for Interplay, Square Enix, Midway & Atari... (back in the 1920s)
we released stuff that required 20+ patches before the millions of angry emails were under the legal limit
to keep the lawsuits at bay.

Sure it's expensive... but Orbiter & it's group of hard loving groupies add a lot to it's overall value.  :wor:

Well, I've got all the addons that immediately impressed me.

some 160MB worth of them. (like 7 files. mostly outer planet textures. :pfff: )

Still, that's nothing to the 500 Mb of old addons that I'm still not ready to delete yet...
