Problem is I don't have an email server on my machine (nor do I really care to install one) and Yahoo has had issues in the
past with third party stuff sending mail through my accounts. *follows link* Lemme guess, :google: is your friend?

Okay, that's great. I had the same idea, but I don't have net at home (still) and I have a really nasty firewall at
work :) I do have enough webspace and bandwidth tho, to maybe later augment your work..

Anyway Travis, I've been doing some concept work, so I'll just post it here so you can maybe use it..

Rules: (unfortunatelly, we need a set of those too)
- Anyone who wishes to participate, must make at least 1 custom base, as their home.
- All faction claims must be available to others as addons - meaning, you cannot say, you have a base on Ganymede,
unless you actually make a custom base and share it with others
- In other words, you can only participate if you contribute to the sharing experience. This is simply put a very
effective measure to automatically dismiss trollers and deadweights :)
- Author credits must be respected and permission gained if so required . Meaning, you can't set up an installation
with meshes of others people and claim it as your work alone. Credits where credits are due.
- Site management MUST be separated from the game itself - otherwise, you may have a moderator restricting user
rights or screwing up their addons, if they have a territorial issue in the game itself :)
- We cannot trade Orbiter-related stuff (meshes, textures, sounds, etc.) as it is:
  a. Against Martin's rules
  b. Will create problems - e.g. if I say I will do a skin for She'Da'Lier alone and he then gives it to others, it will both
be a breach of authorship, as well as a stupid thing of me to demand in the first place
  c. It would eventually kill addon development, because the fun of it will be lost.
- We can only trade fictional stuff (like beer, gems, minerals, whatever) :)

Phase 1: What we need for starters (PHP nuke and such packs should support most of this)
- ability to upload and edit uploads
- ability to add screenshots to uploads
- ability to add a description and possibly receive feedback (comments)
- user priveledges of at least three levels (guests - view and download - participants - upload and comment - and
admins - all the rest of the not-so-fun stuff)
- have some sort of download/view statistics

Phase 2: What would be nice, but may be too difficult to implement immediately
- Some sort of diplomacy module - you could have your status (prestige points), declare disputes, alliances, wars,
peace or run for Solar Council positions :) - basically a limited forum.
- Solar Council (this name to-be-determined) - a fictional entity, who's sole responsability is to promote peace and
declare outcasts (participants, who are generally viewed as troublemakes - in game terms of course) :)
- Voting - a poll system, where various "political solutions" or decision could be put to vote.. The primary function
being to select a Solar Council president (this title to-be-determined) :) and periodic votes on Prestige points..
Basically we evaluate eachother in terms of how honorable, fair and cooperative a player we are. All in good fun of
course :) Of course, results may also indicate a player to be nasty, underhanded and evil :) in which case he may be
delcared an Outcast..:) but this would sort of be reserved for trollers that would manage to sneak into the game.
- Some sort of trading system would be nice, but since we trade in fictional stuff only, rather useless :)

Anyway, hope it helps :) Other suggestions invited.

Doc, I'll make a special little admin account just for you. I can mostly build and maintain the site (don't know any PHP,
just using what was provided with PHP Nuke and modifying it as needed) unfortunately, I'm suffering from a horrible case of
writer's block and the occasional typo.

Thanks, I'll do my best to help. My own phpnuke is messed up, because the SQL base isn't configured properly, so nothing works....

Do you have any experience changing the themes? That's my weak spot.

No real experience in changing themes. I had an Orbiter site up awhile back using the same PHP Nuke version. I had changed an
image to an Orbiter image (the one on the launchpad and official forum as I recall). I'm no good at creating images myself,
but I can certainly put them in place of predefined image locations (as with the logo). And, you have a private message from me.

Hm.. I guess we are in dire need of a php/mysql programmer...

I can do designs with no problem :) I actually did an Orbiter-dedicated design for Tutorials project a while ago, but
the whole thing is on shelf atm.. here's what the draft version looks like:

I think this is one topic where we shouldn't go off-topic, take it to GUPT please.

Well, the site is up, though it's a WIP.
URL: http://travisserv.servegame.com:81/index.php
Secondary URL (for those whose port 81 is blocked): http://travisserv.servegame.com:443/index.php

Registration is free, and, contrary to what it may say, no emails are sent, and activation is automatic. Doc and I are
working on building the site, could use a PHP Nuke/mySQL person though, just let one of us know if you're interested.

Great.
But could there be some more advanced download menagement, I mean, eg. you paste base config as a text, and end user download
whole package (a solar system with all nations' bases)?

Not for the moment. You can upload a zip or text, but the "joining" of bases would have to be done manually by the
admin for example...

It's a good idea though. mabye  there's a workaround.....

Well, it is on-topic.. Just that it's technical :)

Anyway, the site is slowly taking shape.

Sorry for going a bit :off: , but :stupid: ...
What is the little bit of HTML code used to automatically redirect to another page (AIR it's called a metarefresh, just don't
remember how to use it)?
And :google: doesn't like me right now...

Shimz, SDL space enterprises would like to buy some of theese - ehm.. mining lasers - to be installed on europe class
freighter (to pacificate hostile companies - not good to have more than one freight company in one system 8o) and to
protect ground installation (btw., what's it's size?? it seems to be pretty huge :)).

Hi
Whats the problem here
You can't stand the competition,
Solar System to small for you
or maybe you can't deliver the goods on time or required quantitys
maybe you should spend some time at one of our Holiday centers to calm down(will give special price)
Have been working all day on our Deep Space Tug, almost ready then its just the Cargo Pods

No, I'm not angry. It's just not economical for us to have competition. I'm afraid the solar system is to small for both
of us ;)
