Aha, so you've actually converted the whole ship from FS2? Mesh and textures??? That's commendable!

Yes, That's because I'm smart. :) ;)

I'm concerned though, that I probably won't be able to give it to you all when I get it fully working.

It's having to do with the freespace game being copyrighted material. (and I took the thing straight from there.. :()

I do know that volition (the company that made the game) released the source code for the game a while ago, but as
to whether that means anything, I don't know...

Well true :) but, you're not making money, they released the code, plus you can always credit them for the mesh and
textures and you should be very much in the clear...

Besides, we won't say anything ;)

*A Doc groggyly stumbles into the command room to begin the day's business, holding his head*

Argh.. the pain. No more Martian Ale for me.. I have to do something about these end-of-the-year parties..... Ahem..
STATUS REPORT!

Sir, the scope is clear. We are still waiting for you to issue orders about the construction of our base and orbital
station. What are your orders?

Oh, that? That'll have to wait. I'm on leave next week and I'll whip up a schematic of both facilities. Right now, I need
to drop me a bomb somewhere... Who's the safest neighbour to harass?

Hm. I guess that would be Plutonians. Their navy is puny.. Even the pathetic OPA could kick their ass..

Mmm, good. Shame it's not Easter. I could drop them an easter egg.. As things are, prepare a... I dunno. A
thermonuclear Christmas pinnata.. with some strawberries on top. And make it 25Megatonnes..

Ah, you're in luck, sir. We have something similar already prepared. Was meant for the Venusians but they cowardly
got away the other day.

Good, carry on. Target Charon and fire at will.

Yes, sir!

*In a few moments, a giant launcher's engines ignite and it blasts off. Upon exiting Mars atmosphere it reorients
itself towards Charon and shifts into overdrive. *

How soon?

We figure in a few days. The overdrive feature has been improved greatly. Still, we can't get it to go to Warp. We still
need further testing on the NX-01.

Alright, alright, notify Plutonians that they have a ... present... coming their way. I'll be in Sickbay and a little later in
the Fridge if anyone needs me.

-----

Cheers,

SDL space freight defines that it is begining to arm the europe-class freighter in case of offence from hostile - attitude
nations or space pirates.
Our military fleet is quite small, although with the europe-class we are ready to defend quite huge forces. Even though we
are neutral, we will strile back if attacked. We are also working on a military pod capable of attaching a bomb on enemy
spacecraft:

If anyone is interested in buying it, offers will be accepted as soon as finished.

Hehe, She'Da'Lier, I am soo glad you're on this team :) Most of us are just full of ideas, but no skill to develop any of
them :)

This shuttle sort of reminds me of those experimental dolphins certain militaries in the world planned to use for
exactly the same purpose - to plant bombs on vessels :)

top DOES to the target :)

OOC: Oooh!, RPing! *mutters some obsceneties for not having noticed this earlier* This could so fit with one of my scenarios...
Anyway, I'd like to join this as a freelance pilot. My ship, a modified (specific modifications are classified) DG3,
originally built on Earth. Anyone have a problem with this?

Oh, and...how do you tell this forum that you have a new email addy (the one it knows of is gone now)?

There is a "hard to find" button called Edit Profile in the My Profile menu.
Look on the blue border. I think it's hard to find, so there.

Now, about my joining this as a freelance pilot...does anyone have any objections (I realize I'm not a regular here, but
perhaps there's room for a freelance pilot...)?

Travis, MadMike, pull up a chair, play along, no problem :) the more the merrier, and "chaoticer" :)

Actually, the point is, we could populate our Orbiter versions at home with our own creations as well as other
peoples'. Share stuff.. Then maybe ONE day, when Orbiter gets some sort of official multiplayer support, this could
actually turn into a more realistic version of the concept :)

I'm waiting for the holidays to get some time to construct my base on Mars and a station in the orbit, then I'll pack it
up and stick it on the net somewhere, so you can all grab it.. Right now, I think I will combine various parts of other
people's work, like Kulch, Greg Burch and some others, so I guess I will need to ask permission before I make
anything publically available :)

Cheers and have fun with it :)
Janez

I suppose I could rebuild my old Orbiter site (was done in PHP Nuke and had a downloads section and forum). Problem is, I'm
having a bit of trouble getting my Apache server to work...my new ISP (Cox Communications, as opposed to AOL) may not allow
me to host http on port 80...I'll try port 81...
I'll also be posting info on my ship and pilot on my site (I'll post that on geocities if I can't host it myself...unless
someone knows of a better free hosting service...).

Well, it seems port 80 is blocked, but 81 works just fine. I'll reinstall PHP Nuke and have a site up in a day or so.

Okay, that's great. I had the same idea, but I don't have net at home (still) and I have a really nasty firewall at
work :) I do have enough webspace and bandwidth tho, to maybe later augment your work..

Anyway Travis, I've been doing some concept work, so I'll just post it here so you can maybe use it..

Rules: (unfortunatelly, we need a set of those too)
- Anyone who wishes to participate, must make at least 1 custom base, as their home.
- All faction claims must be available to others as addons - meaning, you cannot say, you have a base on Ganymede,
unless you actually make a custom base and share it with others
- In other words, you can only participate if you contribute to the sharing experience. This is simply put a very
effective measure to automatically dismiss trollers and deadweights :)
- Author credits must be respected and permission gained if so required . Meaning, you can't set up an installation
with meshes of others people and claim it as your work alone. Credits where credits are due.
- Site management MUST be separated from the game itself - otherwise, you may have a moderator restricting user
rights or screwing up their addons, if they have a territorial issue in the game itself :)
- We cannot trade Orbiter-related stuff (meshes, textures, sounds, etc.) as it is:
  a. Against Martin's rules
  b. Will create problems - e.g. if I say I will do a skin for She'Da'Lier alone and he then gives it to others, it will both
be a breach of authorship, as well as a stupid thing of me to demand in the first place
  c. It would eventually kill addon development, because the fun of it will be lost.
- We can only trade fictional stuff (like beer, gems, minerals, whatever) :)

Phase 1: What we need for starters (PHP nuke and such packs should support most of this)
- ability to upload and edit uploads
- ability to add screenshots to uploads
- ability to add a description and possibly receive feedback (comments)
- user priveledges of at least three levels (guests - view and download - participants - upload and comment - and
admins - all the rest of the not-so-fun stuff)
- have some sort of download/view statistics

Phase 2: What would be nice, but may be too difficult to implement immediately
- Some sort of diplomacy module - you could have your status (prestige points), declare disputes, alliances, wars,
peace or run for Solar Council positions :) - basically a limited forum.
- Solar Council (this name to-be-determined) - a fictional entity, who's sole responsability is to promote peace and
declare outcasts (participants, who are generally viewed as troublemakes - in game terms of course) :)
- Voting - a poll system, where various "political solutions" or decision could be put to vote.. The primary function
being to select a Solar Council president (this title to-be-determined) :) and periodic votes on Prestige points..
Basically we evaluate eachother in terms of how honorable, fair and cooperative a player we are. All in good fun of
course :) Of course, results may also indicate a player to be nasty, underhanded and evil :) in which case he may be
delcared an Outcast..:) but this would sort of be reserved for trollers that would manage to sneak into the game.
- Some sort of trading system would be nice, but since we trade in fictional stuff only, rather useless :)

Anyway, hope it helps :) Other suggestions invited.

Oh, I almost forgot.. there should also be a section to enable the participants to present their faction, similar to how
we did it in this thread.. If php nuke supports custom user pages, that would be great!! Otherwise, we'll just have to
do it off-site and post links there...
