Hey, Travis, your writings in the Solar Nations thread sort of remind me of Elite or Frontier.. Is there any
connections? :)

Oh, and do you think we should enable to Journals on the Orbital Nation site??? We could rename them to something
like Captain's Logs ... or Leaders' Memoirs :) Then everyone could post their own thoughts or whatever they feel
like... I'll do some testing, to see if there are any potential problems.. If it works well, we could transfer this particular
thread over to your site, where it technically belongs anyway :)

Oh, does anyone know if there is any modernized version of Elite/Frontier out there??? Sometimes I really wish I
could take a ride with an Viper or Imperial Courier through the local star systems....

Thanx for any info.

http://zedo.hardwar.org.uk - Hardw[a]r.  Best bit about it - It's abandonware, so it's freeee-e-e-e-e-e-e-eeee!
Also http://www.hardwar.info is another one to try.  Oh, and my site: http://www.hardwarplanet.com, email me to
order CDs (my regular email) I'll try and get them out to you, but I might not be able to :)

I tried hardwar.. Never really hit it off with me.

mostly because the version I had was a CD rip from the underdogs. No real story to get from that, so I just gave up.

Yeah, and it's limited to Titan as far as I can see. I like a big universe :) liked frontier particularly, because all the real
neighboring stars were included. Adds to immersion experience. You won't believe this, but I'm actually trying to get
my hands on Frontier because of my gf. She thinks Orbiter is too realistic and that we're all a bunch of loonies, but
Frontier is real enough and at the same time dynamic enough. I actually agree and wouldn't mind giving old Super
Sakker another spin :)

My favourite of all times though was Privateer. I felt almost at home in the crammy cockpit with twin CRT displays of a
Centurion :) and I liked the Kiltrathi presence. Reminded me of Wing Commander. Freelancer is nice, but the planets
are just TOO close to eachother for my realistic tastes....

Actually I found the following:
Frontier: First Encounters (will see if I can get it running with DosBox)
Battleship 3000AD (supposed to be excellent)
Buzz Aldrin's race to space (this one is for me, so I can perhaps rips some sounds out of it and see if I can still get the
moon the old fashioned way) :)

Any info/experience on Battleship 3000 appreciated..

I used to play Elite on the Commodore 64. I have a C64 emulator and a copy of Elite for said emulator, but I've lost my edge
(several years since I last played it, plus the emulator isn't a real C64). Also, I've been spoiled with modern games. ;)
As to the Journal, go ahead and try it. As to moving the Solar nations thread over to my site, well...the forum is down
(loads a blank page for some reason) and I think a PHP scripter is needed to diagnose. You can try reenabling the forum, and
check with your machine, but I've not been able to get through to it (even using the loopback). I found Frontie, but haven't
been able to get it to work in XP. I do have DOSBox, but haven't tried using it to run Frontier yet (had issues with MS Space
Sim that I still haven't gotten fixed).
