This is a type-A security alert.  It appears that Martin's account on M6 has been hacked.  This would allow any post to
be altered.  We are not sure yet whether the website has been affected, but do not download anything.  I REPEAT:
DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM MARTIN'S SITE OR M6!!!!!  An all clear will be posted when this is sorted out.
There will be no new release in the next few days, if one appears DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT.

Okay, noted and confirmed. Same message appears on the main forum.

Thanks Brenton. Like McDuck I'll make a sticky for this for as long as it is relevant.

Notice I posted this a while ago... would be cool to read the forum before posting.

Ooh! I'm all excited! :grrr:

It's a terrible thing but I'm certainly alert now.

This is just like some bigtime scandal. :) All I really have to say about the matter is may this be sorted out quickly and the
culprit be forced into very unpleasant things.

maybe they'll conduct an official investigation and sell t-shirts about it afterward...

Yup, these warnings are good. Imagine if there weren't any and people would download a NEW version of Orbiter,
whenever the joker would decide to stick it up there - stuffed with virus, trojans, you name it...

catastrophy for users, not to mention Orbiters' (and Martins) reputation...

I'm glad that this forum isn't affected. :)

I am curious as to how this will conclude.

If it turns out that the good doctor's password for the account was  "password", I can't help but think that he should
have seen it coming. Not that it's very likely, but still..

In any case, somebody should set up a separate, secure place to download orbiter from until this is taken care of.

Perhaps that won't be necessary if it's resolved quickly.. but if not....

Mhhhhh... it's terribly exciting of course imagine "OrbiterZ HackeDZZZ"
but personnaly I don't have to much worry about this...
it's seem to be more a lammerz that had luck trying password than an
real hackerz.

A door braking must be exploited immediately.

Anyway it's funny seing all people running and yelling all around :)

I'm just raising a ruckus because I like living in the moment. :) my computer isn't ruined from downloading anything,
so I'm cool.

Coming from my inner, anarchist-self, I'd have to say.. If the guy did have access to change the site as well, he was a
fool to post on forum about some baloney first.

If I was him, I'd have just uploaded a bunch of malware installing stuff. You get a lot more victims doing it that way, than
trying to do it now. but as you said dan, it looks more like a lamer attempt. just some idiot trying to be cool...

And despite what I just said, I would never dream of doing anything like that to anyone. I'm merely saying that if
you're going to do something bad and stupid, you should do it all the way. But I'm not an anarchist. I'm not,
really!
:)

this event has gotten the caffeine in my veins to activate my body all at once, so I'm a little twitchy right now. :)

So if I make no sense, just ignore me. :)

On that note, I wonder on how many people's lives won't be complete until extra security is forced on everyone on
that forum. Just imagine it. Bio scanners whenever you wanted to log in. :(

What kind of sad, twisted kind of person would do that. What did we do to them? Ah well. It'll be fixed and the I.P. has been
traced. So everything should be fine soon. :)
