Yeah, yeah. But oil is bad. Oil is in my opinion a very finicky thing and I would never set that as a standard.

Besides. Who wants to exchange their 5 dollar bill for 5 dollars worth of oil? I find that infallable.

Silver is a real, valuable, and more importantly, a tangible asset, and that's why I'd do it. Not to mention that oil has a
finite lifespan as far as economics go. Eventually all the oil will be used up, or nobody wil use it because of how dirty it
is compared to the new technologies that will be developed.

To top that off, is that the current thing is to want to trade oil in euros and not dollars.

silver is totally better, and gold being even better, but couldn't possibly be introduced immediately.

Hehe, correction, money that america owes to the world

a better term indeed, but we both agree that it's not america's money that's being spent.

I will make it a principle to not be in debt.

Currently I have student loans, but once I start making money, I'll be living poor until I neutralize that.

But I think that america is already in a "inflate or die" mode. It just hasn't become visible yet.

I've heard that US has immense reserves of oil underground, but choses to dry to international reserves (especially
middle-east) first, so that it may end up with a final monopoly in it. But that's unreliable, conspiracy type of info.

HEhe, the really ironic thing is this. If America owes money to EU, and EU owes money to middle-east. Than US owes
money to middle east, in effect the war that takes place is financed by the countries that are attacked. I'd say that is
a pretty brilliant way of financing a war..

In reality though, US owes money to EU and pounds middle-east infrastructure to dust instead, so then EU can grab
the new job opportunities and earn money (which comes in as US post-war support - BUT IS in effect money owed to
EU), while US still officially owes its share and has managed to even increase it, while unofficially the money has
made a full circle back to EU...

I REALLY think you should stop foreign wars. And get your old glory businesses back online :) It's not helping you get
anything done otherwise :)

I hear you.

I know that america has oil wells just sitting there, but I don't know if they'd classify as "immense"
ut gas prices have been soaring because the gov't buys tons of oil and puts it in that national reserve.

this brings up the price to over $2 a gallon. Some people are insulted in thinking that that's a lot, and compare it to
milk, which is about $4 a gallon I believe.

Of course, what nobody seems to realize is that in order for that milk to get to the local grocery store, it needs to be
transported, usually by truck, which means that it needs gasoline. The truck drivers just shrug off the prices of gas
and pass off the bill to the grocery markets, who then pass the cost along to the consumers. If gas was $1 a gallon,
whoo, just imagine what a push to the american economy that would be. nearly EVERYTHING would be cheaper.

I'm all for avoiding foreign wars.

We americans need to get our act together and quick. Americans had a great production base during WW2, but now
we just push paper around. we can't fight wars.

there are way too many things to take care of at home.

Good point. Then again, someone might argue .....

... that this is EXACTLY the reason why you should fight wars, as you obviously are able to organise the economy well
in times of need. It would seem you can't live in peace :)

Kidding of course...

keh... It shows that we can fight if it is needed in true self defense. But nowadays we really can't even do that, we
just pick on those weaker than us, and believe me when I say that the number of people we can do that do grows
smaller every day.
