I'm another victim of the DSB failed promises. I am an instructor on the Grob Vigilant and have been awaiting its
release to find that it has been shelved!! Very Disapointing. Anyone know where to get a decent one from?
Has anyone got the sound pack for the DSB hawk. Mine has come corrupt, I sent email after email to DSB asking for
another copy of the sound pack with no joy.
Come on DSB!!! Stop Letting people down!!

Jester have a chat with yerself!
DSB will never promise to release a final product or model while it is in project form, if it has reached bBeta stage then we confirm imminent release, we will always mention that we are working on certain projects but there is nothing that states we have to promise delivery, sometimes real world events proclude such things. I always wanted the Sea King that was due for release by Alphasim but it still isnt here, you dont see me going around bitching on public forums. The Vigilant was NEVER portrayed to be released on any given date, indeed even at the time it was an "as and when" release due to its limited appeal.
In regards to the soundpack I would suggest emailing them again and if you are still experiencing problems then
perhaps a private PM or even public post on our forum might serve you well. If you have paid for the Hawk pack
then you will still be able to download it from the website using your passcode, if not then as above. To a more
important point the sound pack shouldnt really be distributed 3rd party as it is part n parcel of a payware product,
asking for it here in such a way is a tad silly.
If you want a Grob Vigilant that badly might I suggest a more immediate and beneficial approach rather than trying to
publicly slate what is a very popular Design House, LEARN TO MAKE ONE YOUR SELF and stop harrassing others!
I will add a parting message; by continuing to post such messages as these on public forums only serves to paint a rather shaded picture of yourself.
Let it go...

High expectations combined with taking things for granted are not a good thing to do. A lot better to expect nothing
and get pleasantly suprised when something new happens.
Patience bears fruits

Well, it's just that I understand Jester to a point, because I sometimes feel the same. On the other hand I know only
too well, how such pressure (intentional or not) can kill enthusiasm of a developer.
Besides, there's no point in arguing. The final result can only be, nothing gets done and two (or more) people have a
really bad impression of eachother. Useless

I hear ya Doc...
Let me say this; unfortunately Developers are percieved by many to perform only one function and that is to build
addons, in a recipients mind they are not allowed to entertain such things that real lives can throw at them, changes
of priority etc etc etc and this kinda bugs. I have been in the same boat many a time regarding models but I certainly
havn't waged a public forum conflict against a developer because of the item has been postponed or shelved
indefinately even when the product in question HAS been promised with a set release date... By trying to "Shame" a
Developer into producing a model in this way is counter productive at the end of the day, again the simple solution is
to put ones nose to the grind stone and create the model required oneself.

Well, even pressure by "shaming" is in the final analysis... a form of utter praise of your superior abilities, faith in your
competence and a really desperate cry to do something to give that person more reasons to praise you.. As
disrespectful, crude and primitive as it may seem
Isn't it?
So if we respond defensively or even agressively.. that sort of tells something about us and our confidence in our
abilites (real life commitments and duties not withstanding)...
I'm exagerrating, but there might be something to it.
Of course a person using such pressure should know better..
Psycho stuff and I would be a better person myself if I did what I just said
Cheers,

I think, in all honesty, that is dependant on one's view of the situation, you see to get the full picture one has to be
versed with the full story to be able to accept that first statement there Doc.
In the FS world there are simply 100's if not 1000's of designers / developers who have similar if not greater
capabilities than our own. This issue has risen from an ongoing problem since our lead designer mentioned that we
had a particular project on the board. The fact that this project appealed to this gentleman has stuck with us ever since and has, unfortunately followed over to this forum which in itself is a shame but there we are, Human Nature on show: "I cant get what I want so, kick, thrash and destroy".
In answer to the second statement there is no correct or incorrect way to answer such an issue as the reply is down
to the individual and anyone who digests it can percieve what they wish from it unless, of course, it is a blatant show
of aggression or defence with complete disregard of accepted forum protocol and decency.
I think this line is going away on an obtuse angle so this will be my last post on the matter.

There is an addon developer for FS that releases his models as Payware then later on will releases the same model
as Freeware. I like this, the guy is encouraged to continue yet he still gives back to the community. His Payware
models are only a little over $10 so in my mind that makes them very tempting.
http://windrfters.com/
I love all this guys ( Bill Lyons ) Freeware work. The quality is outstanding even better then some Payware. His
Payware pages are down right now while he's on vacation. Next week you should be able to view his Payware
products when he gets back in town.
Bills Freeware stuff has kept me quite happy for the time being. But this proves to me that execelent Freeware can be
found in the FS world. In the Orbiter community we are seeing this kind of quality with the DGIII, TTM24, NASSP and
others. Quality work like this will bring 5000 to 10000 downloads in the FS community. In the Orbiter community you
may get 2000 although it looks like Dan now has over 3000 downloads for DGIII.
If you want to see some good military Freeware for FS, look here;
http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?
$=main/spotlite/tanaka/tanaka.htm
Some say Orbiter is a Space Sim not a Flight Sim. I too use to think that way, but not anymore. Dan's addons have
help me think otherwise and I can see atmospheric flight in Orbiter becoming much better with each release. Also this
past year has seen a boom of 3D modelers in Orbiter bringing with it a very promising future.

I tried the Shuttle Sim and it looks quite good. Did the whole launch procedure it is done very much like the original
Virgin Shuttle Sim, but the demo seems to stop "counting" time at about 1h 30min time, just before the OMS
circularization burn.. I was so into it, it took me a few seconds to realize
Anyway, all instruments are working and most switches actually result in some consequence

Sorry to take so damn long to reply, Remote Doc, but I think the clock only pauses when you missed a step in the
sequence. It took me a while to figure out the whole procedure, but I did the whole S3 thing from launch to land..
pretty cool. Gene has a great tut on it, too.
To update, X-Plane Version 8 is progressing quite nicely. 20 mins free flight time in demo mode, with lots of visual
goodies... virtual cockpits, curving airstrips, transparency maps, , more realistic aerodynamic handling. They even got
some 'Docking to ISS' scenarios working pretty well now.
It can be had at

Wow! And did I understand this right "docking to ISS" .. X-plane supports space flight??

Affirmative.
Spaceflight (orbiting) has been possible for a while now. Atmospheric Reentry is comparable to Orbiter,
plus the breaking-up of flight surfaces when you exceed the airspeed, G-forces, or other stress-limits you set. (can
also be turned off). Random Failures (also set by time or stress) makes for the Most fun adventures.
The ISS docking scenarios are an extension of the Refuel-in-mid-air and B52-drop(X-15) features, by switching the
B52 with the ISS and putting it up higher and faster. ..Just don't plan on exerting any physics on it.
(Can learn more in the manual downloadable here:
http://www.x-plane.org/registry/6235.shtml
)
You can also launch up to 20 satellites/rockets that can be Remotely controlled in-flight.
Mmm.. Remote.
Then, land on the Carrier as it's turning & pitching in high seas during a big hailstorm. Good fun.

Sounds good, bet it requires a fairly high spec though.

I have already try X-Plane, but another version i thinks, beacuse the level of details are not the same.
I will try the v8. Because the European Concorde looks like very detailled!

X-Planes' reentry simulation is much much much better than the simulation in orbiter, but conversely orbiter is much
better at simulating the physics of spaceflight - xplane is a bit crap at that.

X-Plane 8.02 is now avail for release... with
Better
ORBITAL PHYSICS!
New instrument: orbital speed indicator...
How fast do you need to go for a perfect orbit at your current planet and altitude?
This is needed for entering perfectly round orbits, an interesting challenge!
-REALtime 3D Virtual Cockpits
early V8 Default Scenery...
the roads from a map perspective...
much prettier terrain and atmosphere...
Best New aircraft are still available here:

(..default planes still need updates)
