I just keep on clicking on refresh until a new post pops up. 8o

We need a chat room in here!

How are we going to use this time effectively? :wonder: Otherwise yes, this sort of thing is useless unless we have a
chat room.
-
When you know that you know nothing, you know not that you know anything! But that's not possible because if you know that you know nothing, you can't know that you know nothing! And if you don't know that you know anything, it's also impossible when you know anything you can't know not that you know anything!!!! :doubt: Right??

If something exists, then nothingness also exists. If something doesn't exist, thenj there is no nothingness either.
It's like the good can't be good without evil thingy. :)
-
I'm wondering what Dan is doing at the moment!
-
I'm wondering what on earth you said a couple of posts back! 8o
-
But if good doesn't exist, then bad doesn't exist, so what does that mean.
(this is almost philosophical.) :)

wow, 0 to 17 posts in 60 seconds. dan's gonna kill us.
-
He don't know where we are!!!
-
at the very least, he can probably ban us, and that is a bad thing. I *like* this place!
-
Hello?? Why is noone writing to this thread?
-
Nothingness is absence of something. Nothingness is where something is next to. No something, nothing wouldn't be
nothing. It would be exactly the same except that the nothingness would not be seen to exist.
(this is absolute cr*p)
-
freespace2dotcom wrote:

LAUGHING IS HEALTHY!!!

Maybe we could turn this into a reality series.

How do you imagine this?
-
"McBrain has been EVICTED from the BIG BROTHER FORUM!" :)
:applause:
-
Sorry, but what's evicted?
-
I was thinking; we might accidently crash the server with all these posts, and there would be witty comments and
audience comments and the whole shibang. really funny in my mind. Dan would walk in, turn on his computer and say.
"oh my lord!"
just like that one guy on perfect strangers! :) ..:)
maybe we'd be closer to a sitcom
-
evicted is when you get kicked out of something, usually an apartment.
-
HEY!!! I really hate BIG BROTHER and the other reality series!
-
47 posts in about a half hour... truely incredible.
I don't think dan's ever had the forums this busy before... :wonder:
-
Yeah!! Nearly 50 posts in half an hour!!
-
McBrain wrote:

Evicted means being chucked out (almost literaly) of your home. They did that on Big Brother, where 10 people would
go into a house, do some challenges and have it away with eachother. But, every week, one persone was evicted.
The public would vote by telephone for who should go.
Really rubbish TV.
Edit: (I really need to type faster)

Great!
How many poeple here play Age of Empires or Age of Empires 2. Because reading around and using my long and healthy experience of this forum it has struck me that quite a few Orbiter fans play A of E. If you do play A of E then i also recommend Rise of Nations. A great game. And the expansion is coming out soon.

Grrrreat game, we played a lot with my wife to AOE AOK in multiplayer (zone from microsoft)
and I bought also rise of nation but I played it only in solo.
Lately I'm on Falcon4, old game but all the patch and add made by the community
make this game a pure beauty.

without me tonight because I'm looking right now to add the
"whose-online feature" (not sure that I will add it but I'm looking at least)
Just be warned to stay within the limit, do not start several
off topic thread otherwise the forum will become unreadable.
Anyway flooding one "off-topic" thread as this one is permited, no problems
I just think that there is a hard-coded limit (400 or 600 posts don't recall)

Ugh, all those mp3s are GAY! (sarcasm, haaa~)
Besides, aren't you afraid of the boogiemen? (www.riaa.com )
they have the power to search homes now to see if any mp3s are on your hard drive, I hear.

Sorry to have deleted the link Krytom, but law are changing now also in my country
maintener of a site could be annoyed because of illegal reference on his site.
I would be the one to F****ight the RIAA (they can die I don't care for many raison)
but that would be on a special site (something like www.fucktheriaa.com )

not at all, that's a legend, but your provider can KNOW what your uploaded on your
computer and on some country they should give this info if there is a justice request
today at least in my country they are resisting but this may change, those poor guy at the riaa
make a big push those days.
Anyway be warned about some spyware riaa sponsorised that *may* sent the infos of what
files you are listening.
Law are changing in many modern country and I'm affraid we will soon need to fight for our right
and privacy if we don't want to be closely controled and the whole net become commercial
without choices anymore.

actually, I live in america, I'm pretty sure they can do it here. (although they still need that pesky reason to, but they can tell what you do online here too if they want.) I got a video saying about what a big deal it was.

getting what's on a computer hdd from external request is pure HACKING and will fall under privacy
law. If RIAA must do so they must hack the computer, either by a spyware, virus or something
like that and THAT is illegal.
Anyway another guy know ALL what you are getting from the net: it's your provider
anyway checking terrabit of transfert just too look about some outlaw file is an enormous
job, they must keep also an enormous amount of log. So I would say that provider don't do that
usually unless they are ordered by justice to check one guy's activity in particular.
RIAA use another tool to prosecute *some* guy but THEY CANT physically check
ALL the user, it's physically impossible and it would fall under privacy laws.
I would say that mostly RIAA watch P2P network using some tool to get user's IP
then they must ask a lawyer request to the provider so they can put a name
on the IP then they order the police to phyically check the user's home&computer.
What they do now is exactly that: they sue a few people just to make an example
and give fear to the other so they stop transfering illegal content.... and it work
I heard 30% or 20% less P2P transfert in US lately.
What you heard about RIAA that can watch what's on your computer is part of
the "disinformation war" to give fear to people. It's not at all a reality.
for now if you take some careness internet isn't the big brother that watch all your action
but we must pay great attention to what is going on else we will wake up one time
in a 1984 h.g wells 's world.
Dan

Poumf : he he 1500 posts, call me "master" :)
Dan
-
No, I didn't mean that. I mean they find out what you download, just like anywhere else, then they get permission
from the government, go straight to where you live, and *take* your hard drive(s) FROM your PC.
I would say that mostly RIAA watch P2P network using some tool to get user's IP
then they must ask a lawyer request to the provider so they can put a name
on the IP then they order the police to phyically check the user's home&computer.
That's largely the point I was trying to get across.
It could be that the government does it for them, but ultimately, they are the force behind it.
Personally, between me and you, we're already living in "1984" and it's only going to get worse, but that's beside the
point...
edit: I have over 10% of that 1500 posts, that's enough to be able to deny to have to call you master.

hehe, yeah, the first game I ever played online was (just guess) freespace 2.
I never used that name when I played it online though, and I don't have the game now, so...
I never want to switch my nickname, I've gotten fond of it even though there's not a ounce of originality in it. It's so
big that nobody'd ever use it either, so it's unique, at least. If any of you guys have a truely unique name, you can
use a search engine and look at how it has spread over the web. I recently popped mine in and got over 100 results!
(although most of them were repetitive, with several linking to posts on this forum ^_^)
And to test it out, I even searched "dansteph" on the yahoo search engine. It's really cool, but you have to have a
unique name, otherwise you get trash results too.
-

The Matrix of corse. Great movie. The Matrix was the first ever DVD I bought. Atom tends to like 'borrowing' my
DVDs
-
Ah, clearly by "borrowing" you meant... hehehehehe
Yeah, I'm guilty of that too..
The matrix rules, but I hated how they ended the third one..
-
Ahhhh, but there is a Matrix Online game coming out some time this year, and that game will continue on with the
story. Do you think Neo was alive when the machines took him away? (oops, sorry for anyone who hasn't seen it)
-
Yeh the third one was a bit of a dissapointment. I think the first one was the best. I love that gunfight. But the Smith
fight in Matrix Reloaded is just funny. First time i saw it i was laughing my guts out. It is so funny. All those Smiths
getting bashed up. Makes me feel happy.
Matrix Online may look good but i feel that people should have an alternate way of finding out the ending, those
people who don't have a very fast internet connection (me). But still. Some great movies.
By the way this has everything to do with Orbiter, it's just between the lines.
-
Matrix online is supposed to work with 56k modems, although I admit that having an ADSL modem would help.
-
I've seen Matrix 1 & 2. BTW: Have you seen the PC Game "Enter the Matrix"? My brother has it and it's really great!!!
The moves of the players figure are fantastic!! They get those moves from the orginal actors by let them move while they wear a special suit with many sensors on it!
-
Actually, I've played the PS2 version, but that game kicked rear. It helped alot because it filled in some blanks when I
watched the third movie. I was like, Ooh, I remeber that bum!
-
Yep, got the game on PS2 and completed it a few times. Atom likes to 'borrow' my games aswell. :turning:
-
Did either of you see 'The Last Flight of the Osiris'? That was pretty good. It filled in yet more blanks. Enter the Matrix
was good, but a bit short.
-
Beating that last level was rather hard I remember, when you were piloting the ship and were trying your hardest ot
avoid that bomb like the plague, and then you hit a wall, have to back up, and start praying that you can speed up
again before it hits you.
-
We always seem to be on at the same time, myself, Krytom, McBrain and Freespace2dotcom. Strange!?
-
I never actually lost on that level if I recall correctly. I got bored with the game so I tried it on a harder difficulty.
Which character do you most like to play as, Niobi or Ghost?
-
I rented it once, when it first came out, so I don't remember too much about it. I do remember I played as both and
beat it with both. And that niobi was the pilot and I hated trying to find out where I was supposed to go in those
blasted cars. I liked being ghost better. infinite ammo + drivebys = FUN
-
freespace2dotcom wrote:

I tried to get the Krytom posts split, but Dan can't do it. So i think i will follow in McBrain's foot steps and get postin'.

I also completed the Hacking part of the game, unlocking cheat codes (which I couldn't be bothered to use), extra
features and an impossible secret level. Oh yeah and a samuari sword, that was cool!
-
Yeah, Atom, that's the name of the game!! :)
BTW: What time is it in your timezone? Here it's 19:48!
-
An hour behind. Me and Atom are in GMT. More precisely 18:50

tha's cool. I *thought* I got to the end of the hacking, but after hearing you, I dunno. I got pretty far though.

What would you do if you woke up in the middle of the night, turned on the light to see a massive black monolith at
the end of your bed. Then all of a sudden a high pitched squeel came from it temporarily deafening you. I have no
idea what happens next because it cuts to the spaceship, but i feel i would be a bit creeped out.

I'm sorry, what post? I've had a bit of turbulence in my life as late. My grandmother passed away about midnight and
I've been rather busy.. I tell you, if it wasn't for my bad luck I'd have no luck at all :(
I'm quite all right, but I just have to sleep off a lot of stress, I'll never have a high blood pressure because I'm so laid
back, but It's got me waking up at 8:30 PM. That's why there are fewer posts today.
There were so many tears in the family, you'd think she was condemned to hell on the spot. In the bible it says that
the time of one's death is greater than one's birth, but since we all lust for the things of this world, we tend to not
want to leave it. Anyway, I'll try and post a little today, and we'll see what happens in the next few days.

Yeah, like I said, I'm all right, it's better now because she was suffering a lot. She'd been in a hospital and this cheesy
nursing home type place for about a year. That's not fun, I can't stand waiting an hour or so for the doctor during a

Anyway, that aside, I just get up and it's time for school. I leave at 5 30 in the morning and on average get back at
around noon. At least I have fridays off, but would you believe that a 3 day weekend now goes by just as fast as a 2
day weekend did back in high school?

I don't know why.. it works for me, I even double checked and nothing went wrong.. Maybe it was down for a bit?

Still not, one server must be broken between me and the site..

Me too. Although I can only wear sandals in the summer because it rains half the time in Britain. Typical.
Pancakes....:wonder:....depends on what sort of pancake you mean. I generally like most pancakes. :top:

Big fat American style pancakes, with syrup. Mmmmmmmmm.

I like the pancakes that are so big they take up the whole plate. I'm talking about dinner plates! and having a few of
them piled up on one another.. MMM..
Just wish I had pancake mix.. I'd make them the old fashioned way, but I'm a lousy cook.
Sausages? Keep them away from me, or else they'll all disappear when you look the other way.

Has anyone here been to KSC in real life? I have. It's definately worth a visit. I also saw a shuttle take off. I did have
booked tickets to see the launch from the podium, but the launch arrangements were changed at the last minute so
my tickets were cancelled. :grrr: Instead I had to watch from 50 km away in the hotel, still very spectacular. 8)
This was 5 years ago but I'll try to recall what it was like.
I was racing to get to the top floor balcony on the hotel and just as I got there there was a brilliant burst of light
on the horizon. The light then traveled up on a columb of white smoke, which eventually changed colour to yellow,
orange and then red, leaving a multicoloured trail in the sky. I saw the boosters eject from the shuttle and fall down
to the ground, leaving their thin trail of grey smoke behind them. Then the shuttle couldn't be seen, leaving just the
trails in the sunset. I have a photo of it somewhere but it's probably lost.
There's pleanty of other stuff to do at KSC, like watch the 3D IMAX movies or visit the rocket garden, ect, although
there probably won't be another shuttle lanch for some time.
Post Edited ( 05-03-04 20:15 )
-
No, I haven't to be frank, I've never been too keen on space until recently, and even if I had the ability to go see a
launch a few years ago, I doubt I would have wanted to go. That's how I am/was. It'd be cool now I think, but there
will be future launches, it'll just take a while for the political dust to settle.

You know, I was listening to a reenactment of this old radio show. It was *very* cliché. It was made long ago, but
sometime after we landed on the moon. It was about the first time we supposedly landed about mars. It was funny
as heck if you were to listen to it now, but back then, well, it was original. After the people land, they think it's heaven
because they find all these people that they knew years ago, but later it turns out that the martians just read their
brains and did that to make them relaxed, and then just after the landing party finds out, all of them die and stuff.
What was funny was I could predict what was going to happen as it was happening. great stuff. If I ever find a copy
of it, I'll let you guys hear it.

Nice website McBrain...looking forward to seeing more add-ons.

"Tinto di Verano" is a spanish soft drink.
It means "The Red of the Summer".
You mix 1/3 red wine; 2/3 citron lemonade (such as Sprite or 7Up)
Then you add icecubes and a slice of citron!
It's really cool if it's hot outside!
-
Man....that sounds good...it is about 95F degrees here right now
-
95 F° = ? C°
-
Just mix it, Baby! :)

Thats just cheating. Whats the point then of having the point system? huh. Wast of time then really. :)
So lets wast points then. Yay I just became a student pilot. :)
-
Congrats!! :top:
Thanks the GUPT! :)
Does anbody know how to calculate the C° value when you have F°?
-
Centigrade (C) to Fahrenheit (F)
Sorry the # is just for spacing
######9 x C
F = 32 + -----
###### 5
Fahrenheit (F) to Centigrade (C)
###5
C = -- ( F - 32) =
###9

lessons and several privelages.
BTW: My fourth star, good timing ;)

96? that's not hot. the human body is hotter than that. (literally) but seriously, you live closer to the equator than I
do. (I live in nice cold chicago.) it only gets that hot here during summer. and then everyone opens the fire hydrants, water pressure goes to nill. and traffic near the beach means you're on the highway for a few hours. (ahh, memories of pre-teenage years....) For florida, that's average cool, mcbrain. I think the max temp in chicago on a normal basis (not extremes, and this is a northern winter city) during the summer is 105.) In florida, well, the temp is 90% of the reason why I wouldn't want to go to disneyworld. 105 is nothing in florida. it's only maybe 75~or so degrees fahrenheight here right now though. perfect room temp for me.

Okay, Mcbrain. I knew something was wrong with your temp. You had a calulation error.
96 fahrenheit is equivalent to about 35.6 celsius
What did you do? only subtract by 32? (something even I do from time to time) You have to multiply that by 5/9ths
(or .55555555 to infinity) as well, and then you get your answer. a slightly cooler number.
hehe.. it happens.. I can't believe you thought things get as hot as a computer processor in florida..
63C is about 143F. sounds really funny to me now. It's not your fault though. But you can see that your confusion
with this is very similar to my confusion with the DG's temp panels.
sorry sorry. end of lecture. I don't want another "configure hud display" thread here.

Hehe, I like Yoghurt...and Star Wars (the trilogy. 'Cos Ep1,2 are rubbish and orientated at kids). Congrats

About the temp. I'd love to estimate on the fly, but that's not as exciting as accurate numbers, (and I'm bad at
estimating when the diplay changes every second.) and I can't very well take a break during a re-entry to open my
calculator. so accurate conversions are impossible and reading the celsius temps as fahrenheit isn't very appreciative
to look at. 1000C is far hotter than 1000F and if I read them like F.. well, it's like saying that there's so many bananas
when we're counting oranges. now, about star wars, yes it's kiddie, deal with it. It happens. It's still got cool
lightsaber fights, and that's why anybody would bother seeing any of them. ;) Finally, all hail the king! [of sarcasm]
ME! who didn't cheat, but will finish the fight with doc.
Freespace takes out his dual bladed lightsaber and goes "darth maul" on Doc.
And the only dairy product I like is milk...
...and cheese, but not just any cheese... only american cheese, and mozzarella for pizza, but that's about it. I've been
known ot steal grated cheddar from my family's fridge, but that's another story entirely. Oh, and I like swiss cheese.
(because of the holes) but I'm not big on it.
-
Well try to imagine it like this. 0C is where water freezes, 100C is where water boils. 36C is what a normal temp of a
human body is and 20 is room temperature. 50C is probably the nastiest desert weather you can get on this planet.
The rest you can just imagine in your head .. like a straigh line with these few points of reference and you can get a
good estimate for conversion with just that.
Works for me and Fahrenheits.

Actually, I already use that more or less when, on rare occasions, I use celsius for checking outside temps (hey, it
happens..) however it's very hard to do all that in your head when the straight line you imagine in your head is 10
times larger than that scale. not to mention that there are five different displays that usually diplay 5 different temps.
(at least when you want to pay attention to them) They're also pretty dynamic, and so a conversion you made 4 seconds ago might very well be inaccurate now. It IS estimatable, just not by me in real-time, which is my problem.
while I screw around with such things, I realize that my attention is needed on turning that sucker around so that I can land on the base because I overshot.

links more obvious and possibly add more, depending on the ammount of webspace.

I couldn't find a music mistake even if it bit me in the rear. I'm simply no good at it. that goes for anything. sure a
helluva lot better than anything I could do. ("mary had a little lamb" on a piano using the black keys) ;)
-
Hmm... I believe I heard two mistakes (at the beginning and at the end of the solo), but I'm not quite sure because I don't know the notes. :)
But 8o!!! You play the tuba, right? It must be very difficult to play fast notes! That's a great performance!

It's good you diddn't hear the one in the middle. I covered that one up pretty well.
Yeah the beggining was a mess-up, so was the end.
Notice the acompanying pianist kept on coming in at the wrong speed.
I diddn't win, I was up against grade 8s (8 being the higest possible grade on most instruments, beyond it is music
teacher, conductor and examiner)

Atom: I added the tail fin.
McBrain Spacecraft Inc. proudly presents:
The new MBX-04/03 launch system:

The MBX-04 (the big black craft) takes the MBX-03 (the other craft) to 54km height and near orbital velocity (6km/s)
Then the MBX-03 unhooks and finishes the ascent.
Maybe it's hard to see, but I added a heat-protection-tiles-texture to the bottom of the MBX-03.
-
I love it. It is brilliant. I definatly think the new tail fin has improved it and the black tiles...magnific.

OK, you will be able to test it when I'm ready with the animations.
About the visitor counter: I got my webspace at www.strato.com and they offer free CGI's (such as counters, chat's etc.). The problem is that they are only available for webspace users at strato!
But look at :google: and search for "CGI visitor counter" .

Okay, okay. But what software do you use? Can I find some tutorials for it?

I used Anim 8 or. I heard of tutorials for it once, but I don't remember where to get them.

Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh, ORGAN! 8o Cool 8)
Anyone ever heard of a Tuba and Organ Duet piece? :) There are Tuba and piano pieces which you could play on the
organ. How good (or how bad for all you pesimists out there) are you on the organ? From what I know they are
definately harder to play than piano, with the extra keyboards and the different sound modes you get on them.
But seriously, getting together to do a duet won't be happening any time soon.
BTW: My grandpa plays the organ :)

There are no pieces for tuba and organ? Then write one!!! ;)

As for me, I can make pretty good quick chats, like "go here" or "help me" but longer chats require me not being by
the action, and then I'm usually rushing to finish the sentence so I don't get found and killed. you'd see something
along the lines of this from me: "no fair you prick, we 're supposed tou be an a tem" If nothing else, I have a
microphone.... and I'm sure we can understand spoken language no matter how broken it is. even I'm pretty good at
it.
I'm sure you've seen worse, but about time I'm got lots of it, (even though it's not enough!) but it's usually not
the same time that everybody else has. I'm free from like 2-5 for example, but everybody else seems to be free from
6-10. It's just life.
