Title: Can someone translate (or correct) "Orbiter install for noobs" tutorial ?
Post by: DanSteph on 24 August 2020, 10:43:23
Dear all,

In french we have a complete tutorial "install and setup Orbiter 2016 for noobs" (it appear in the welcome if you have the langage set to french)
http://orbiter.dansteph.com/forum/index.php?page=bienvenue
Orbiter 2016 might be confusing to install and setup correctly, it would be nice to have this tutorial also in english.

Would someone proficient in english help me to fully translate/correct this tutorial so I can add it to the english welcome ?

Much thanks

Dan

Gidday Dan,

When I go to the page, then click the translate to English option that pops up, I see a perfect translation.

Am I missing something, or is this what you need?

Now how do I send you an image ???? :)

You mean this one ?
https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Forbiter.dansteph.com%2Fforum%2Findex.php%3Fpage%3Dbienvenue

What I can do is that I create the page with this translation and you and gattico write here the minor glitch that you find...

Deal ?  :)

Deal Dan,

But I will humbly follow gattico's lead.

The translation is near perfect to be honest.

Could change:
You now have sufficient basic installation for your first tests. Subsequently various addons of all kinds and high resolution textures of planets can increase the directory up to 70GB for the most collectors. There is something to do and for all tastes.

Well, what I will do is create the page, correct it myself as my idea, then I show it here and you give here the correction to apply so gattico and you can see what is done.

Back in one hour or two...

Complete,

See the new intro of the site here, follow the "tutorial button"
http://orbiter.dansteph.com/index.php?language=english

If you correct something, put the new text here so everyone can see it. (not in PM I mean)

Thanks

Dan

Unzip the "Orbiter2016.zip" file in an "Orbiter" directory that you create where you want, but avoid system directories like "Program Files" on Windows.

And I guess Sound 5.1

Hi Dan,

On the Video post, i think the "D3D9Client Advanced setup" screen is the same for both english/french pages, and there's still a french note on the screen.
