Title: My new base at Callisto problem
Post by: Kendo on 27 July 2014, 16:10:08
I have a problem with a Base I am making at Callisto.
Various craft I have tried, go backwards using LOLA, towards the various landing pads, then lose control.
For example, going from pad to pad.
I am using Lola to test the pads.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks Ken.

Which version of Orbiter are you using?

Which LOLA version are you using?

Orbiter 2010p1. LOLA 2010 v3.
I realize there is supposed to be a problem with LOLA and Dan,s latest stuff, but all seems fine to me. It,s just this base I an having problems with.
All craft I am using are fine on our Moon.

I have just noticed when going from pad 1 to pad 3, Orbiter points to the direction of 172, but Lola says 352.1.

Try Pursuit MFD.  It behaves more like the original LOLA (for ver 2006) than any other I've tried.

Thanks NukeET.
It looks like my base is rotated 180 degrees for some reason.

update:-
I changed to another location and all is O.K.

second that motion, Pursuit MFD has a far better and more controlled landing autopilot than Lola.   It is more like how the Apollo LEM went down to the surface, a single burn to slow down and controls the descent via pitch control.   I use it all the time to get close then actually land using Hover MFD, that way I can control which way the vehicle is facing for touchdown.   Makes sense for me since I have a permanent Moon base and I like to have the access hatch pointed right at the base.
