Title: Orbiter Mesh Wizard won't display texture template
Post by: Zatnikitelman on 22 March 2007, 22:29:33
I've read the manual twice now and followed the instructions to the letter, but even with the texture loaded, OMW
only displays the white texture without the template. I only loaded the texture to display a template so I could create
a better texture for my current project. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Zat

If the problem is that texture is displayed, but not the template, it could be one of the following situations.

1.UV coords out of range.
Sometimes UV coordinates are higher than 1 or lower than 0 for tiled textures.
If such is the case, you won´t see any template on your texture.
UV values that are displayed by MW range from 0 to 1.

2.Selected group isn´t using that texture.
If you have a texture on screen and you press the group template, it may display nothing if the selected group uses a
different texture or no texture.  You can assign a texture to a group at the Information screen - Groups data, where you can
edit groups data directly.

3.No texture appears when selecting a texture name or selecting a group that has a texture assigned to it
If the problem is that it doesn´t display any texture at all, it is because MW looks for the textures in BMP format in the
directory specified in the settings screen.  So you'd need to convert them to BMP and place it in that directory.

Well I'll try all that, but I get a texture and am trying to see the entire template, not just one group...yet.

I know MW is still weak regarding UV processing.
May be some day I could make a nice UV processor software, but I don´t have it in my short term projects.
